I e been frustrated the last couple of years about the Twins poor fundamentals. I have stated that they give away a game a week due to poor fundamental play.  Unbelievably it’s gotten worse in the last month.

This is an organizational philosophy.

They have stated they do not believe in slide steps. They have their catchers set up to frame, not throw. 

They believe the pitcher should focus on the hitter, not baserunners.

It's a design feature, not a flaw according to the team.

Perhaps you are missing the fact that Varland is pitching with a very substandard defense. Maybe if the plays are made, the offense could continue it's problematic display. Don't blame the pitching , no matter the outcome.
