INITIAL REACTION: Grade the Twins’ trade deadline

Our Minnesota Twins sit in second place, 6.0 games behind the division-leading Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central. While many fans were clamoring for a significant addition to the starting rotation, the Twins ended up settling for Trevor Richards, a project relief pitcher.

Richards has pitched for 5 different teams in his 7-year MLB career, with an ERA over 4.50. The price for Richards consisted of Jay Harry, a minor-league outfielder.

Richards was the Twins’ only notable addition at the 2024 trade deadline. What grade do you give the Twins?

KC is now in 2nd place.  Twins need to feast on the decimated team on the South Side this weekend.

They didnt do anything.  No step forward and no step backward.  Put Varland in the bullpen and presto they have a fresh new reliever.  I suppose the same can be said for Dobnak probably less convincingly.
