The horse that is the payroll discussion has been beaten so much that the bones are dust in the wind

And now that the season has started we are beginning to see the destination that that horse has brought the team and the fans...

Well then Rocco is failing.  They're 7 games out and it isn't yet May.

I believe Rocco was also the manager in the 1st half of 2023, the entirety of 2022 (78 wins), 2021 (73 wins)..do those count?  Why does it only count when the team does well?

Sure they count - the losses!

I’m not anointing him best Manager ever but he’s not a buffoon that’s repeatedly costing the Team games - they can’t hit!

The other 100 games they have between now & mid-August count too. Last year they were 58-57 in mid-August. Can they achieve that - a real shot - with their regular players?

If coaching is so influential with player production, do we really think he carried the hitters, along with his hitting coach in 2019? Same in a shortened ‘20 when ball was reversed?

FOUR starters are not playing……,how is that a coaching issue? Remove the left side of the infield and both expected corner OF off ANY club in the game and what are the chances of success?

Their top prospect and left side depth piece is hurt at AAA. Can’t manage that away.

My point about ‘23 is if everyone essentially got fixed, got right, by late July……..,did everyone forget the process? Again, players have to play & perform.

Division Winners in 3 of 5 seasons he’s managed……………still don’t see the problem. I guess we agree to disagree.

How many “man games” did they lose to injury in ‘22? Had to start Celestino in CF for long stretches - brutal roster on the field for the most part the 2nd half.

Players matter.

The Twins had the least man games lost in the league in 2019.  So if you are going to excuse Rocco for 2022 injuries you can't give him credit for 2019 as he got extraordinarily lucky with health.

We can do this all day.  You just like Rocco.  That's fine!  Just say that!  No need to pretend that a manager who is presiding over his 4th straight season of offensive futility is just an innocent bystander though.  I'm not calling for his head, and he's not the biggest problem by far, but nothing is working right now, and that includes Rocco.
