Gordon was satisfactory. Provus is better than Gordon ever was. But the only announcer I know of who may have been better than Carneal was Vin Scully.

Herb's mentor was Ernie Harwell and Ernie was terrific.

Ask me how I feel about the incessant chattering Atteberry taking over the play-by-play on radio.

I'm lucky I don't get bruises from slapping my forehead every time Dan Gladden talks.

I think it might be referring to how something like only 130 of 162 games were on TV each year. Maybe it's finally going to be 162.

The fact that nobody here even knows what, exactly, was blacked out tells you how bad the marketing has been.

Every game last year was televised/streamed somewhere.

One thing...can someone explain to me how we can promise no blackouts when we don't even have a TV contract??

Because no matter who they negotiate a TV contract with, they're going to keep the streaming rights and sell them as a stand alone subscription. You will not have to subscribe to DirecTV/Cable in order to stream games online. Previously that was not the case.

Where does this come from? Are the contracts ending?

The Bally contract ended at the end of the 2023 season, yes. And Bally's as an entity has pretty much said it's going to go out of business at the end of the next MLB season. While there is a chance the Twins will do a one year deal with them, if they do, there will be a streaming option either through the Twins or Bally's that will not have any blackout restrictions unlike last year.

I grew up listening to the Twins on the radio, (thanks dad) and nobody will ever hold a candle to Herb Carneal or John Gordon.

Those guys were the best!

This just sparked something for me.  I as well grew up listening to the Twins on the radio.  I still prefer it.  Plus, I can't stand the delay in streaming sports...leading to my next point.  The Timberwolves have clearly moved towards streaming even radio games.  KFAN only has 20 games on the radio this year.  All other games are ONLY streamed on iHeartRadio.  I really really hope the Twins don't go down this path.  I know it's petty, but turning on a radio and listening is so much easier than streaming.  Plus, if I'm on the road, the radio is 10 times out of 10 preferred to streaming off an app.

Listening and watching sports in your home state shouldn't be difficult.  It should be extremely fan friendly for all.
