TwinkieTown: Targets If Twins Save Money

It comes down to fundamental scouting, which the Twins are pretty good at. If they don't see it as a 4-person draft, and no one in the top echelon falls to them, then maybe. But at #4, there should be somebody with a significant major league career available, and it would be bad to come away with bench strength and relievers when we get to find out the results ten years from now, so I am skeptical of the strategy. If the guys you wanted get taken anyway, before you get your later picks, because there are 29 other GMs forming their own strategies independently, then "oops".

Yup, because there are four teams in the first round with 2 picks and the Yankees have three. Then six more teams have competitve balance picks. That's basically 12 picks that other teams can use as wild card selections, long before the Twins make their second choice, and that doesn't include the three picks the Astros, Cubs and Rockies have before the Twins due to the draft order. Pick a stud at #4.

I dont get how so many Twins fans are so oblivious. If they cut a deal to save a bunch of money its not so they can spend later in the draft, its to save money. I dont think they will but if they do I will be super mad. Theres a reason you take the BPA, I dont think I have to explain why.
