TL Verified Member Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Draft rarely plays out as expected. I fully expect 2 of top 4 teams to take the preps to save $ for a later pick they can entice away from college. That will mean Langford or Skenes is there for the Twins. They both seem like no brainers at #5. Though tbh I also can’t figure out how you pass on Teel given his bat, arm, athleticism and the premium position he plays. If he would take less and we can get another (or two) first round talent later in the draft with excess $ I would not hate it, especially if Skenes is gone.

I would be happy if the Twins picked Clark at #5 but while watching the classic LSU v Wake game with Skenes and Lowder the ESPN graphic referred to Skenes as the #5 prospect in the draft...right where the Twins pick. If the Pirates DO select Clark, Crews will certainly go #2 and then all hell braks loose. I'd take Skenes in a heartbeat if he's there at #5. I'd give him one of two starts in Cedar Rapids or St. Paul and then I'd get him up to the Twins for the rest of the season. Even if he pitched in long relief his stuff would play. Why waste ANY pitches in the minor leagues with this kid?? I think the Twins should get Skenes as a compensation pick for losing Wes Johnson to LSU. Doctor Wu and Twins33 2
Doctor Wu Verified Member Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 I'm still gung-ho on the idea of drafting Noble Meyer. Love the name, but his stats and makeup are intriguing too, plus I really want a great pitching prospect. But ... I don't think he makes the top five picks. As others have said, just pick the best player and don't be too cute!
Eduardo Tait Cedar Rapids Kernels - A+ C On Thursday, the 19-year-old went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Cedar Rapids. That gives him nine homers this season. Explore Eduardo Tait News >
