Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 13, 2023 Author Posted March 13, 2023 After watching López pitch tonight for Venezuela, I might change my vote! Great outing for him and his team!
Rod Carews Birthday Verified Member Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I voted for Ryan, but I could see nearly any of these guys being the best pitcher on the team. As you said before, when exactly have the MN Twins had a rotation 1 through 6 anywhere near this good? If you assume Bailey Ober is #6, when was there a year in the past when he wouldn't have been at least our #3? Injuries and ineffectiveness can certainly come out of nowhere, but you have to feel good about the situation. The surest/strongest floor is probably Sonny Gray, but the upside play on the others might make him the least likely to come out on top. We've got some arms, now let's score some runs!
tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I voted for Pablo Lopez without any hesitation after seeing him pitch a few times last year on mlb.com. After watching him pitch tonight against Puerto Rico I'm wondering why everyone didn't vote for him. When was the last Twins starting pitcher to consistently throw 96-98 and have a changeup as their best pitch?
wabene Verified Member Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I voted Lopez but as echoed above this is not like a normal Twins rotation. I agree with @Rod Carews Birthday Ober would be at least a number three on many past rotations. In answering this question you could easily make a case for Lopez, Gray or Mahle. Then you have Joe Ryan who has been the healthiest (knock on wood) and with some further development could take the prize.
laloesch Verified Member Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Maeda needs to go to the pen for now. His last start shows he's clearly not ready yet.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS On Saturday, Houston went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. After a short slump, he is now back over .290 on the season. Explore Marek Houston News >
