Vargas going deep for Ft Myers. He is very high on my intrigued list. He had an awesome 40+ games last year but it was just 40+ games for a 22 yr old in low A. He could fly up my personal list if he has a strong season in A/AA this year.

I was distressed when checking the low A boxscore. I didn't recognize one player in Beloit's lineup. Frankly i didn't even have a clue who these guys were. Cedar Rapids, cedar rapids, cedar rapids.

 

Buxton led off the game with a HR of Michael Ynoa. That name should sound familiar because he was 2008's int'l FA prize (one year prior to Sano). He was 6'6" and already throwing in the low to mid 90's. Fast forward 5 yrs and he is just making it to low A ball due to a mix of injuries and ineffectiveness.

Cedar Rapids won on a walk-off single by Niko "that's some m-f-ing" Goodrum (nickname courtesy of Eric Pleiss).

May with a good outing at NB, but the Rock Cats were no-hit and lost 1-0.

Per mlbtraderumors.com, the Twins have signed Eric Farris, presumably to play second base at Rochester. Farris is a small, speedy 27 year old, who has also played a bit of outfield. He has been an okay hitter in the minors and has stolen almost 200 MiLB bases.

Goodrum is my dark horse prospect for the year. Toolsy and could stick at SS but has the typical hit tool questions. Good to see him hit a little to begin the season.
