Nick Nelson Site Manager Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Televised on FSN! Twins lineup: CF Span SS Carroll 3B Valencia 1B Parmelee C Doumit DH Hughes RF Benson LF Revere 2B Casilla SP Hendriks
Neinstein Provisional Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Hopefully a big day for Hendriks... May shake something up here.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Looking forward to Carroll's Box today. With Casilla batting (and playing) well and Dozier (perhaps) in the mix now, will Carroll continue to get one base this week and will he be anemic with the bat? I predict 0/2 with a walk.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Jackson's base hit really showed up Carroll's limited range at SS
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Rookie mistake by Revere to not let foul ball drop allowing a SF instead of strike 2
Nick Nelson Site Manager Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 Solid first inning for Hendriks. Three ground balls and a weak fly out into foul territory. Great grab by Revere.
Nick Nelson Site Manager Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 Rookie mistake by Revere to not let foul ball drop allowing a SF instead of strike 2It's spring training. I think they'd rather have him catch the ball and move the game along. Good opportunity to test his arm anyway.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Yeah. Just hope that he does not make a habit of that during the season.
Mr. Ed Provisional Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Terry Doyle sent back to Chicago http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/blogs/143663936.html

Nick Nelson Site Manager Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 Hughes doing exactly what the Twins need him to do. Coming up against a lefty with runners on base, taking a good at-bat and cranking one.
Neinstein Provisional Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Decent second inning for Hendriks.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Rookie mistake by Revere to not let foul ball drop allowing a SF instead of strike 2Wrong... in the first inning, you get the out, especially with the middle of the order coming up. Gotta get outs early in the game.

Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Shipley tweeted that Blackburn pitched 4 innings in the class A game against the Red Sox' class A team and gave up one run, 4 hits, one walk and had 3 Ks.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Delmon hits his 5th HR of the Spring
edavis0308 Provisional Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Didn't Craig Monroe completely light us up in spring training his first year with another team also?
Neinstein Provisional Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Didn't Craig Monroe completely light us up in spring training his first year with another team also?Yes, he did. 7 of 14 with 4 HR's, 3 HR's off 3 hits in one game. However, I'd be careful not to try to compare Craig Monroe with Delmon Young, especially in their ST following leaving MN.
Neinstein Provisional Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 A very interesting play involving Span calling Revere off. Hopefully Revere learns quickly from that play.. (today, he's playing Left)

Player X leaves the Twins and has extra motivation to stick it to them after they leave.
Mr. Ed Provisional Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Big 4 run inning. Love the xbh Benson 2 run dinger. Too bad he's not ready for the bigs (sarcasm).
Gernzy Verified Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Maloney striking out Fielder and Young back-to-back makes me smile.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Maloney striking out Fielder and Young back-to-back makes me smile.Inge too in the previous inning. At this point I don't see how he does not make the team
Mr. Ed Provisional Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Inge too in the previous inning. At this point I don't see how he does not make the teamThinking the same thing. It would seem he'd have to fall apart to not make the club now.
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Big 4 run inning. Love the xbh Benson 2 run dinger. Too bad he's not ready for the bigs (sarcasm). He'll get there. No sense in hastening his arbitration years when; A) He's never played in AAA The outfield is our strongest position groupC) The Twins won't be competing for anything in all likelihood this year anyways

Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Carroll is really working himself back to a bench role: 0 for 3 with 3 Ks! Saving grace was one that one walk, but let's hope he can turn it around. I see a quick flip in the order of Carroll to the 9 hole and casilla/revere to the 2 hole maybe depending on the R/L pithcer also. He's just been bad at the plate and very average in the field.
