twinssporto Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 http://www.thegamblingforum.com/sites/default/files/field/image/twins%20vs.%20royals_0.pngWelcome back to another exciting Game Thread installment brought to you by Twins Daily! The game last night was not fun to watch. Sounds like Odorizzi will be ok but probably very sore for a few days. According to reports from the Twins, Zach LittelI might be shut down for an extended period of time. Hopefully today's outcome turns out better. I am now officially tired of playing the Kansas City Royals. They're like an annoying fly or mosquito buzzing around my face...Enough already! I miss playing some of the other divisions. I miss playing AL East teams and I miss playing AL West teams. Speaking about missing things, I think I'm actually starting to miss my kids. Today we are driving our youngest son to school and my wife and I will become official empty nesters. All three kids are now enrolled full time at their respective schools or colleges...I figured I would use this game thread introduction to do a quick shout out to my family (yes, my kids read Twins Daily and like to read some of my posts). To my oldest son at Virginia Tech: Congratulations on making it to your senior year! The United States Army will be getting one helluva good officer next year. To my daughter at Iowa State: Enjoy your junior year. Keep studying hard and keep your distance from the boys! To my youngest son at Alexandria Tech: Have fun and learn as much as you can. Try not to party too much your first year away from home. To my wife: You did a great job raising these kids. They're all good people mostly on account of your patience and love. Thank you! OK, back to the game thread action! Someone will need to post tonight's lineups as I'll be loading my sons stuff into his new home. I checked but the official lineups have not been posted yet so I wrote in the expected lineups per MLB. Go Twins! Beat these pesky Royals! I'll be listening to the game in the car and probably passing to my wife a bunch of tissues on the way back home... Tonight's Lineups Twins:SP - Randy Dobnak 4-1, 1.42 ERA1. Max Kepler (RF)2. Jorge Polanco (SS)3. Eddie Rosario (DH)4. Marwin Gonzalez (3B)5. Jake Cave (CF)6. Miguel Sanó (1B)7. Luis Arraez (2B)8. LaMonte Wade Jr. (LF)9. Alex Avila © Royals:SP - Brady Singer 1-2, 4.56 ERA1. Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 My uncle was a professor at Tech for a long time. I have a cousin who went there, as well as all three of her kids. Go Hokies!
AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Twisnporto, congrats on achieving empty nest status. I particularly love your assessment of your kids: “They're all good people mostly” I mean, that’s all we can really hope for, right? Now, Twins, let’s see you get back to winning this series. I don’t think 5-5 versus the Royals is too much to ask, amiright?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Arraez is back, and we get to see Wade in action as well. I hope we win!

Keep studying hard and keep your distance from the boys! What kind of engineering is she going into?(Disclaimer: My Father-In-Law is a retired ISU Engineering prof.)
BeatTheRich Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Good test for Randy today. These Royal pains in the --- have seen him as recently as a week ago. I expect him to keep doing what he's been doing -- love the guy already -- but there may be a few longish at bats. Really hoping to see one or more of our guys break out at the plate.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 A 3-0 lead with nobody out in the top of the first is always a good thing. For the visiting team, anyway.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Way to go, Bert. Great call!
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Best wishes, Twinssporto. I’ve often said that I loved being the parent of young kids, I loved being the parent of middle school kids, and I loved being the parent of high schoolers. But I really love being an empty nester. It truly is a gift to be able to relate to your kids as adults and “mostly good people” in their own right. Your job’s not done, however. Hopefully you have many more years of being their dad. I also hope you get the car unpacked just in time to head out to KFC for a late supper in about three hours.
SS MagicMark Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Two double plays for the D in two innings. A much better start than yesterday.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Anyone remember the old double mint commercials?
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Anyone remember the old double mint commercials?Um, yes
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Anyone remember the old double mint commercials?I do, but Chief would probably consider them the recent Doublemint commercials.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 I have never understood why the pitcher doesn't have priority on fielding pop-ups within 5 feet of the mound. He's there anyway and he doesn't have to cover a base.

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Dobnak doesn't look as sharp as he usually does, but through 3 scoreless with nothing hit hard yet
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Dang, Dobnak is simply unflappable. Two singles on two pitches to start the inning? No problem for him.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Royals trying a little small ball, a little bit too small I’d say
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Frosty the Sano-Man! Thumpety, thump, thump...
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 The big strong man can hit the ball very hard and very far.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Man that ball got outta here in a hurry. I mean anything travels that far oughta have a damn stewardess on it, don't you think? Crash Davis
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 We say this every year, but the umping has gotten so much worse than last year
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 We say this every year, but the umping has gotten so much worse than last yearI believe we have a lot of minor league umps to replace the veteran umpires who opted out
Sielk Verified Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Randy Dobnak, king of double plays...
