So assuming the Harvard U study they're talking about is correct, 34,000 missed strike/ball calls in a season means there are 14 missed pitches/game (34,000/2,430 games).

 

Assuming 125 pitches per team per game, that comes out to an error rate of about 5.5%, which means the home plate umps are correct 94.5% of the time.  

 

Acceptable or not?

I said this in another thread but Castro and Sano are the two I don't like batting with a guy at third and less than two outs.

and of course as I hit enter he strikes out, I must have cursed him.
