Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Phil Hughes has no business starting for a team looking to compete for a division title. Also, playoff teams shouldn't get swept by an abysmal Tampa Bay team.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Should have picked up CJ Cron for my fantasy team. He's 1B on my daily game at Draft Kings

Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 A nearly accurate quote from the great philosopher Red Green: If your wife is having fun and you're not, you're still having way more fun than if you're having fun and your wife is not.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 I don't understand why Odorizzi isn't starting this game anyway. Why not try to push Hughes back as long as humanly possible?I actually think it makes sense to have Hughes start this game if you are going to have him start. I'd much rather have him face this Rays lineup over the Yankees lineup. Anyone know if Kinley is able to throw again today? Guess we will find out shortly.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 I don't understand why Odorizzi isn't starting this game anyway. Why not try to push Hughes back as long as humanly possible? 4 games in Yankee Stadium, so they're going to need a fifth starter. If their going to trot this one-year wonder out there, I'd rather it be against Tampa. That said, I'd rather they sell his contract to the Sugarland Skeeters.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 I don't understand why Odorizzi isn't starting this game anyway. Why not try to push Hughes back as long as humanly possible?Because then Hughes would be starting against the Yankees in the Bronx.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2018 Author Posted April 22, 2018 Better wake up the bats. Hughes isn't going to do the team any favors today.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Fernando Romero is dealing in Rochester today.... 3 no-hit innings with 4 Ks, ERA down to 1.46
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Grossman third, Kepler 7th? What in the world is Paul doing? I tend to not worry about the batting order very much. However... My guess... With Sano out of the lineup we are right handed weak. Molitor is trying to balance the left and right handed hitters in the lineup so the Rays just can't bring in a left hander to face multiple left handers in a row. If Kepler moves to the 3 spot then he would have Mauer, Kepler, Rosario and Morrison all lefties 2, 3 ,4 and 5. And I'm also guessing that since Dozier hits in the #1 spot always... Grossman became the preferred choice between Escobar and Adrianaza to move into the Right Handed Hole 3 spot.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Because then Hughes would be starting against the Yankees in the Bronx. Hard to imagine it would go any differently than this. Molitor is going to cry that his bullpen is overused going into that series because best case scenario Hughes would go five innings.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Hildy up in the first? Gonna be a long day, fellas.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Bullpen active in the first inning. It must look even worse to Molitor and Alston than it does to us watching at home.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2018 Author Posted April 22, 2018 Hildy up in the first? Gonna be a long day, fellas. It's not like this was a completely predictable outcome... /s
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Grossman is now the "hot bat" after his 2-4 performance yesterday! Also, right hander. Though I can't get a sense of his splits in the minors. Last year they were pronounced in favor of lefties but before that it was kind of a reverse split? Not sure how much it being the low minors changes things?Reverse spilts are as rare as hen's teeth, and even then they're most likely a mirage.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Where the hell is he getting 110th start?
Platoon Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 This is why most players only give standard cliches while being interviewed. Any time they step off the script... they are judged and usually judged harshly. My wife once asked me if I liked the Tuna Fish Jello she made. If I would have consulted my Public Relations guy before responding, I would have been advised to say "We are taking this one meal at a time" "I have nothing but the utmost respect for this Tuna Fish Jello"."You are always the first one in the Kitchen and the last one out" "You have always done all the little things right". Instead... I made a comment about not combining the Tuna and the Jello and I learned my lesson. The next time I did a much better job responding to her question when she made Tapioca Fish Sticks. My wife used to make me potato pancakes. One day I said they weren't as good as my moms. I have never had to compare them, ever, again!
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Phil Hughes (and Grossman) owe Brad Miller a christmas card
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Hughes gets bailed out by Millers' base running blunder/injury.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Here's what's wrong with baseball scoring rules ... that AWFUL throw from Grossman in right qualifies as an assist.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2018 Author Posted April 22, 2018 Thanks for the gift Tampa.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Every team wins 54 and Every team loses 54... it's the other 54 games that matter and we haven't reached those games yet. We've already lost a couple of those other 54. Friday night was one.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Hard to imagine it would go any differently than this. Molitor is going to cry that his bullpen is overused going into that series because best case scenario Hughes would go five innings. I would have went with Odorizzi today and try avoid the sweep. But... 6 of 1 and half dozen of another.
