Should Twins go all in on offense instead?

How about this idea, we sign JD and a cheap starting pitcher (Tilman or Gracia for example) and if is working, we go after the ace starting pitcher hard with a couple of our amazing can't miss prospects as soon as possible.

There doesn't seem to be any starters that we really want, or willing to pay the price wanted for their talent level (Cobb/Lynn) and I am not one that says we have to spend just to spend.

 

Spending because you need something gets you Nolasco and a Hughes extension.

Still have a lot of confidence in Falvey and Levine. A year ago they made the right choice to pass on Dozier trade to the Dodgers. I don't think Darvish would have come here for less than 7 years. We'll find out within a few years if that was the right choice.

 

Would love to have Archer, but at what cost? Never dreamed I'd say this but maybe it'll take giving up Sano to get a great SP. His value is down right now, but with Escobar at 3B last year we really didn't miss Sano's bat. I've said all along that if we trade Sano he will become the next David Ortiz. Twins have to decide if we'd rather have a Johann Santana or a David Ortiz.

strongly agree, that is my thinking on Cobb, Lynn and Jake to a point. If we could get them on a 1 or 2 year I wouldn't be against it. But JD seems way closer to a sure thing, not interested in 6/150, but maybe a 4/100 or something.

and when the offensive is scoring a ton a runs it might force the front office to pony up a few prospects for a front line starter.
