Child Sex Trafficking in the US

I happen to know Tim and Tina Swarens, who authored this article which has gone viral. I'm guessing some people here have read it, and I figured I'd post it here for awareness. My wife and I are both involved with the organization Tim used to go around the globe to see some of this first hand. This is the first in a 10 part series trying to bring exposure to human trafficking from the demand side of things.

Thanks for posting. My wife is passionate about this topic and will appreciate it too. Sex trafficking is a real tragedy. With the option of tinder like apps, hopefully people can find other ways to be promiscuous without damaging the lives of young women or men.

I think that the most effective solution in the short run would be to prosecute the customers.

In the long run, we should try to create a society in which all young people are valued and protected.

I have read that on average more than 10,000 children die every day from lack of nutrition. If only FDR had lived long enough to promote his human bill of rights.

I agree except I'd prefer we used a stronger word than "customers". It sounds too benign to me when we're talking about children.

I think identifying them is the hard part. Something Tim mentioned on Sunday when he discussed the topic was just how bad the pornography industry contributes to this, and that by simply viewing porn, we are all essentially customers. It's probably worth pointing that out, as porn exploits under age women in particular.

But that is (usually at least) different from what amounts to children. The problem is that no providers are actually keeping records. It's illegal, so no one wants that recorded, and when they are, nothing happens. If you want proof, do some digging into Bill Clinton's trip on convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's "Lolita Express"... it's disturbing.

Over the years the situation has not improved, more and more people write about this. Now I read a lot to read on this topic for a general understanding of the trend and horror of what is happening, I also recommend you click over here to read about human trafficking in a more global disclosure of the issue, where experts write about the role of immigration reforms, the connecting factors that help scale this movement and suggest ways to solve the problem.
