gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 I was never a big fan of them when they came out but I saw them at Live 8 in Philly. A bunch of acts had gone on before them and it had been a fairly hot boring morning (Toby Keith can really bring a crowd down) but they were fantastic live. I was truly impressed with them.
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 I have heard that he was very good friends with Chris Cornell. Ironically today is Chris Cornell's Birthday. I was never a fan of Linkin Park, but he was living the dream and has been doing it for a long while now. Bennington is my age, he had a lot a mileage left, it is really quite sad.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Always saddens me when someone isn't able to overcome depression and takes their own life.My wife and I have both had to witness depression and suicide in our families.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 My brother and I enjoyed their music together, finding it funny to be a guy in his early 30s and a college guy at a concert with a bunch of goth teens a few years back. Their stuff on disc or on radio was never close to the act they were live, and that's where I loved getting to see them (4 different times). My brother and I had been debating going to see a show of their current album when a tour date would work for both of us and our young families now. Absolutely tragic. Having worked in mental health for just short a decade, allow me this minor soapbox - depression sucks, but it can be treated. Suicide is permanent. If you're ever even considering it, please reach out to someone who will listen - heck, send me a PM here...I'll absolutely listen.
