Trip to Minnesota

I could use some input/advice.

This will be my wife's and my ten year anniversary. I had booked a cruise for us, but she is now pregnant and Zika being a thing caused me to cancel those plans. Minneapolis is within driving distance for us and it's where we went for our honeymoon, so it's definitely a spot that will be appreciated by the wife. We are planning on coming the first week of May and catching some Twins games.

We previously stayed in downtown Minneapolis and utilized the light rail. If I'm looking at the metro website correctly the light rail now runs all the way to St Paul? What are the pros/cons of staying in St Paul instead?

I'm hoping for something memorable so either a nice suite at a hotel (preferably at a decent rate) or something quaint/unique. Any suggestions on where would fit that bill?

As we get closer to our trip I'm sure I'll ask for more suggestions on places to eat/visit.

Thank you for any advice!

Don't stay in St Paul unless you plan to do a bunch of stuff in St Paul (which may be the case, there's plenty to do there nowadays).

While it's cool the Green Line exists, it's slow as molasses. It's an hour end-to-end from Union Station to Target Field and is only marginally faster than a bus over that same distance.

I know you've said St. Paul, but if you consider Minneapolis, have you thought about the Nicollet Island Inn? I haven't stayed there, but I have friends who have. And I love the area. While not right downtown, it's very accessible to everything.
