Civ VI is out

Civ is about the only game I still play so I am excited to get this one - although I won't get it until this weekend.

I probably logged 2000 hours on Civ 4. Couldn't get into Civ 5 but might give this one a look just to see if they fixed the RNG yet.

I got it.  (Can't help but buy the Civ games.) I haven't logged in that many hours, yet.  I don't really like the art style, but the gameplay is good.  The three big changes in my mind are: (1) specialized districts which take up on of the hexes near the city (like industrial, campus, holy site, or even wonders)  (2) the tech tree is split up between technologies and social/political/cultural paths, and (3) happiness has been removed and replaced with "Amenities,"--cities no longer can become unhappy (significantly affecting all aspects of cities) rather Amenities seems to cap a cities growth.

 

I haven't really gotten to far into combat or diplomacy yet...

Well, let us know if/when you're attacked by Catherine out of the blue, after 2000 years of friendly relations, because you declined to close borders with Genghis Khan 10 turns earlier.

I have two little children and teach/grade for two different places, sometimes three. 

Civ would take over my life.

I learned with Civ 5 that I am incompatible with this gamestyle.  I love the games, but I am incapable of doing a "smallish" game size and inevitably put too many civs on too big a map.  The first few hundred turns are a blast, then I start to realize my games are taking 10+ minutes to finish each turn and I will never actually finish said game.  More power to those of you who can control yourself as the games are otherwise very fun.

Didn't care for Civ5 at all, still fire up 4 every now and then using the Legends of Revolution mod.

Sounds similar to the setup in Galactic Civilizations, another fantastic 4x game.
