Molina signed for $300k. Comparing the bonuses to the draft pool isn't exactly apples and oranges, but I'll agree with your point that the team hasn't made a significant investment in the position in along time. I just don't think this draft is the place to start.

 

I don't know, I'd be pretty happy with that Revoldt kid in round 2.  I think it would behoove them to pick up another one later in the top 10, though neither of those would be ready to help any time soon.  If we want help soon, those answers are Murphy, Garver, and Turner... like it or not.

Francisco Cervelli and Wilson Ramos are free agents this off-season.  I'd rather see them go after one of them, than draft a C and wait for Godot to develop.

I think you mean JJ. Schwarz out of Florida, big bat potential but there are issues/questions with his defense and it could take longer to develop then what his bat will take to develop and he's average defensively at best.  That happens quite often where a player can develop as a catcher but his bat is too advanced to waste it in the minors mastering the craft -Bryce Harper, Paul Konerko, Carlos Delgado, Wil Myers, etcetera.

Yes that would have as Cervelli not only can hit but is known as one of the best framers in the game.
