Captain America: Civil War - No spoilers (yet)

Saw it today. Magnificent. Already planning to go again.

 

Pretty non-stop from start to finish.

Maybe the best Marvel movie yet. Spidey, Ant-Man, and Black Panther stole the show... Which is quite a feat given the rest of the cast. Everybody had their moment and no character was left behind.

Wow, that's a high review ... I'm gonna have to get out to see this ... soon. I generally wait until the biggest crowds die down, even on a 'must see now!' movie, because, well, crowds, they are made up of people, and, well ... crowds of people all crammed into a theatre and I am usually sitting next to or right behind that person who has to be on his/her cell phone throughout. Hmm ... might have spend and go VIP to avoid the worst of the rabble. Oh, who am I kidding, I usually do that anyway on these types of movies.

Wow, that's a high review ...

It is. There are plot holes in the movie - hard not to find inconsistencies in an action movie with a scope and cast of this size - but unlike other films in recent memory, what is happening on-screen is just so damned intense/fun/emotional that you don't give a damn about the plot holes.

 

This movie a little bit of everything: it has the intensity Batman v Superman tried so hard to convey (but this film pulls it off), it has the fun and charm of the best Marvel movies to date (Guardians, Avengers), and it introduces two major new characters while delivering on promises made with old characters in previous films.

 

It's really a marvel (no pun intended) of film making. I walked out of the theatre scratching my head, unsure how the Russo brothers pulled off the ~150 minutes of film I had just experienced.

Geez, okay ... now I'm going to have to put up with obnoxious movie-goers to see this ... at least it will be worth it.

After re-watching Winter Soldier I wan't surprised; they got this in a way that Whedon just got burned out trying to do. Maybe because there are two of them. I really like the subtle way they handled Zemo.

 

Anyway, my expectations for Infinity War will be going through the roof now.

Yeah, it's impossible for them to live up to the hype of Infinity War after this movie. I just don't know how they'll do it.

 

Winter Soldier may be a better film than Civil War but it wasn't half as much fun.

 

Which is okay, because they almost feel like separate franchises they're so different from one another.
