This article was written with a fantasy baseball lean to it, but it's interesting nonetheless. He seems to think Berrios' fastball had more run on it than his scouting reports historically indicated. It'll be interesting to see if that holds true going forward.

good article.  He didn't really have command last night, especially of that two seamer that tails to the right. 

 

I expect him to be sharper in the next few starts.

Agree. Once the nerves calm down and the weather warms up I think you'll see his trademark command/control.

He'll be fine. When he was interviewed after the game you could tell he has "it". Now that his debut is over he can really go to work. Berrios has some filthy stuff and once he calms down and gets locked in look out.

I think the weather was the biggest factor last night. It was downright cold and damp, I doubt Berrios has had many starts in his minor league career in those type of conditions.

I guess I never understood what is meant by a 'flat fastball.' I maybe just assumed. Based on what I saw last night, if Berrios' fastball is 'flat,' then consider me Miles Davis.

I think that had a bit to do with it. His first start this season for Rochester was in some really cold conditions and might have contributed to Berrios' 4 walks that night. Other than that start I think most if not all his starts were in nicer conditions.

I thought the kid did ok considering it was his first start and the cold weather.  His change up could turn into something special.  Talking about flat, I think his curveball was a little flat.  Didn't seem to have as big of a break on it.  Again, the cold could have had something to do with it.

 

Bottom line, Berrios is going to do great.  He really looked calm and in control.  I liked his quicker delivery too.
