Going for the (strikeout) record!

Many expect the Twins this year to strike out and strike out a lot, possibly challenging for the record for most strike outs in a season. The record was set by the 2013 Houston Astros with 1535.

This thread will be for tracking the team strike outs for the season. This thread is not intended to rag on the Twins for striking out too much (we can do that in other threads) it's meant more for observational purposes.

After striking out 10 times in game 1 and another 13 in game 2 for 23 total the Twins are on pace for 1863.

Right now the Twins have the 9th most strike outs in the MLB after 2 games, all the teams ahead of them have played more than 2.

The Blue Jays have the most at 46 after 4 games, also on pace for 1863.

The Cardinals have the 2nd most at 37 through 3 games, on pace for 1998.

Houston had 16 through their first 2 games in 2013

Yikes!

Double digits again yesterday.

When a guy hits 40 home runs and drives in 100 RBI, then the strike outs are part of the game, but it is not likely all of these players will hit 30 or 40 home runs.

Three of the teams ahead of the Twins in total Ks have played an extra game. St Louis has more Ks in the same number of games, but the Twins still have them beat in K% at 32.7% to STL's 31.9%.

The Twins are now 2nd in the MLB in strike outs with 49 trailing only the Blue Jays with 56 who have played 5 games.

On pace for 1,985.

Houston had 56 through their first 4 games
Houston had a K% of 25.4% in 2013
