snepp Verified Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 DeVries has really settled down nicely. At 96 pitches, do you send him out for the 7th? He's on a roll right now - 9 straight batters retired.I send him out, with the pen ready for a quick hook.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 OK, that's it - I have had it. I am calling for a boycott on all Twins ticket sales until they deep six those amazingly annoying "sorta deep thoughts" commercials.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Yeash Duensing. Can't be walking a lefty

I am calling for a boycott on all Twins ticket sales until they deep six those amazingly annoying "sorta deep thoughts" commercials. They are hit and mostly miss for me. I did enjoy the Joe Mauer one though (practical joke one)
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I will accept giving up one run here.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Let's hope that Duensing's effectiveness as a reliever has not been compromised.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 And there's Plouffe's arm.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Half error each to Plouffe and Mauer on that one.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 High throw but Mauer needs to catch that.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 Half error each to Plouffe and Mauer on that one.How on earth was that on Mauer? The ball was about seven feet high and two feet left.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 High throw but Mauer needs to catch that. That's a tough ball to catch. You're moving your center of gravity down to catch what *should* be a low throw at the plate and it sails high and wide. I can't fault Joe for that. Keep in mind that Mauer only got a glove on that because he's so tall. That sails way over the head of most other catchers.
Intramural Legend Verified Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 High throw but Mauer needs to catch that. You have a guy charging in at home the throw was 7+ feet in the air, and you want to blame Mauer?
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 How on earth was that on Mauer? The ball was about seven feet high and two feet left.Looked to me like he should have caught it still.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Wow. Talk about dodging a bullet here. Who woulda thought Dozier would be the hero in this inning?
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 Looked to me like he should have caught it still.Mauer looks like he should have caught that because he's about 5" taller than most other catchers. His center of gravity was going down for a low throw/catch/play and Plouffe throws it seven feet high. I'm not going to blame him for barely getting a glove on it.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 You have a guy charging in at home the throw was 7+ feet in the air, and you want to blame Mauer? It was a bad throw but it hit Mauer in the glove. I fault them both. Nice....out of the inning. Thome comes through again.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Not blaming Mauer, the error was definitely Plouffsie's, and a horribly erroneous throw from that distance, but since Mauer is very tall and great athlete and got a glove on it, he still could have caught the ball and probably should have. He kinda rushed the catch and took his eye off the ball anticipating a bang bang tag at the plate. Good thing we got out of that black cloud of an inning.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Ok, if span ran that out, should he be standing on second?
GCTF Verified Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Chris Davis : not being considered for a gold glove.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 First time since last year I've been glad Thome wasn't a Twin - anybody else trying to run that out beats the relay to first.

He kinda rushed the catch and took his eye off the ball anticipating a bang bang tag at the plate. Good thing we got out of that black cloud of an inning. He may have rushed the catch but Plouffe was about 60 feet away when he airmailed the ball. It's not as if Plouffe was in the dirt when he threw the ball, he was well onto the grass (without watching the replay). That doesn't allow for much of a reaction time to a terrible throw. Considering that Mauer is crouching and setting up for a low throw at the plate, I'm not going to fault him for not catching a ball four feet high and three feet wide of the target.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 It was a bad throw but it hit Mauer in the glove. I fault them both. Nice....out of the inning. Thome comes through again. It glanced off the end of his glove when his arm was extended. The only fault there is from Mama Mauer for not growing a 6'7" boy. And wow, the Orioles are awful on defense.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 If you could ask Plouffe he'd say it was a terrible throw. And if you could ask Mauer i bet he'd say he should have caught it.

And if you could ask Mauer i bet he'd say he should have caught it.The play finally popped up for replay so I watched it a few times. Yeah, Mauer could have caught that. It appears that he was looking at the runner in an attempt to still make the tag. I still don't fault him much for failing to make the play. He wouldn't have been able to make the tag even if he caught it. It's been a while since Plouffe airmailed a ball, hasn't it?
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Plouffe is only accurate with his mid irons. Misses a lot of fairways and greens with his woods and wedges.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Plouffe is only accurate with his mid irons. Misses a lot of fairways and greens with his woods and wedges. That's just like my golf game - except for the being accurate with the mid irons part.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Sigh. Burnett.Agreed. What is his story?
