Meyer Back to the AAA Rotation

Perhaps Meyer prefers to relieve because of the shoulder problems that plague him year after year? Around late July/early August?

That's an interesting angle too.  And Trevor May seems to have the reverse preference, and has cited health as one reason.  Maybe they could trade spots? :)

It's striking how much people have written him off in one year. This is a real opportunity for him. If he does well at Rochester, he could be starting for the Twins before long. Has Tyler Duffey really completely bypassed Meyer on the charts because of 10 starts?

Also, in the referenced article, Molitor says there was a 60-40 split on starting/relieving, and that he voted bullpen. That's very disappointing to hear. Who are the five people in this vote he referenced? Ryan, Antony, Molitor, Allen, and...who?

I think Meyer is viewed as "organizational filler".  The bulk of the "up-and-comers" haven't made it to the AAA level yet, so there is need for SP at Rochester.  In the off-chance everything gets "straightened-out"--well that's OK, Meyer could be used to fill what ever hole exists.

Ouch man. He had a puppy and it died. Speaking from experience, my own two-year old dog died on me a while back and it was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. So, no, not kidding. Good question though.

The dog died while being taken in to be neutered, the vet gave him too much anesthesia...  If you have ever been around Alex, you'd know that he's an avid dog lover and that little guy was his world.  Him and his wife, who just got married as well, just recently got a miniature golden doodle, named Oscar that he absolutely loves.

Glad to hear it. Meyer should get every opportunity to start before relegating him to the pen. It might be a different situation if the Twins didn't already have a handful of fireballing pen prospects.

Agreed. I is personally wish they took this same approach with May.
