This was off a recent Joe Posnanski column - name the 4 men who hit 50 or more home runs on a world series winning team.

 

I got two right (and most will guess those two) but I was wrong on my guesses of Jimmie Foxx and Pujols (who peaked at 49 home runs).

I guessed three right away. I had to look up the last one. He was a bit of a surprise...

Yeah, the one I missed was pretty obvious in hindsight ...

I just had a discussion on the guy who you guys are likely citing as the fourth guy on the list or I'd have missed him. I guessed one other one that surprised me didn't make the list, but then I noted he had 49 twice when winning a World Series, which is a pretty good trivia question all its own.

The answer, before the snow knocks me out, is Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle (the obvious ones), Roger Maris (who, in hindsight, is an 'oh, sure') and Luis Gonzalez.

I never would have thought of Luis Gonzalez before the answer was revealed. What a fascinating juiced up time we lived in during the late 90's/early 00's..

The M&M boys in 61 were an easy pair along with Ruth. I'd watched a thing on Gonzalez recently, so I remembered him, but the guy I mentioned was Lou Gehrig who had 49 twice as a champ.

I knew it wasn't Gehrig and Ruth and Mantle were obvious choices.  I think if I had thought about it a bit more, I would've had Maris.  I was thinking that Jimmie Foxx was the tricky guy b/c he was on those great A's teams that won right after those great Yankee teams and Foxx nearly eclipsed Ruth's HR record.  But it wasn't him. 

I would never have remembered Gonzalez.  I was thinking about the roider guys who had won WS recently but didn't think of him.
