Early today, this video was post on the Start Tribune website.  It's Michael Rand "interviewing" Phil Miller on what will Terry Ryan do with Byung-ho Park.

Miller quotes Terry Ryan as saying:

 

Pursuing Park wasn't done to subtract players, it was to add.

Plouffe will remain at 3rd, Mauer at 1st, and Sano will be in RF, because of his arm strength.

You've (hopefully) added a good player by using your cash instead of trading away players, now those 'excess' players can be traded for other team needs like catcher or pitching. Sounds like a win to me.

 

The trade deadline could be very interesting for the Twins this year!!! By then we'll know whether Hicks has truly turned the corner, we'll know whether Arcia has figured it out, we'll see if other teams have 3rd base injuries and need a replacement.  Fun, fun!!

yeah, I wouldn't read too much into this either.  Trading Plouffe for Norris, Kimbrel, or realy any major leaguer isn't really subtracting anyways.  Trading him for a couple low A high ceiling prospects most definitely is.  That said, plans are always fluid.  I'm guessing that as it stands right now, this is Ryan's plan if nothing else happens.  This also assumes he cannot get anything else done (which probably isn't a good assumption, but one that by default you have to make, as there's no guarantee that plans A, B, and C work out as planned... it happens).  As well, as others said, he cannot just leave Plouffe hanging (and likely has already spoken with him).  It's the nature of these things.

Acquiring talented players is good. Watching others do it is bad. TR added to the ML roster without giving up any other player, that's good. Having a lot of depth/talent opens other doors. It'll work itself out. I'm happy about this type of move.
