Milone needs to show his worth at the major league level.

34-24 career win loss

513 IP

4.01 career ERA

366/127 k/bb

1.31 WHIP

not great numbers but he has shown MLB value over a 90 game MLB career. We knock him because of last year and forget he has more of a career than our little SSS in Minnesota. He is, always has been, and always will be a 4-5 pitcher at the back of the rotation but he is solid there and belongs in the majors.

I'd like to see how well those stellar AAA numbers carry over to the ML. He went down to AAA, didn't sulk, just worked hard, lets see what he can do.

Nice to have someone like this as a back up when an injury to a starter happens.

At some point don't the Braves need to take whatever they can get for Graham.  It's clear he can stick in an MLB pen for a year and even provide some usefulness.  We've shown we're serious about keeping him.  Shouldn't Atlanta be desperate to get some return?  Then we can option Graham and bring up whoever we want.  Duensing has been good enough for long enough.  He's serviceable.  Oliveros choked in his big audition last year.  I'm not sure he truly represents an upgrade over what we already have.  He'll get his chance once someone gets hurt just like Tonkin and Thielbar.

Neither Stauffer nor Duensing could be involuntarily sent to the minors.  If the Twins don't want them on their 25-man, they would probably lose both.  However, the Twins currently have an eight man bullpen (one too many) and also will have Fien returning within the week, barring a setback (two extra arms).  Adding in the aforementioned Oliveros and Achter makes eleven to choose from when only seven are needed.  Certainly, there is risk that someone will get hurt or be ineffective, but to me I think Duensing and Stauffer have put one foot out the door and another on a banana peel because of their performance this year, despite $2M contracts.

All fair enough.  So be it, they could cut him no problem then.

I certainly dont mean in a meaningful fashion, no different than the 91 Twins, they brought up Lenny Webster, Paul Sorrento, Carmen Castillo, Jarvis Brown.......every team has players like that...........but overall I agree with you that good teams, dont use players like that on a regular basis, but nothing is wrong with rewarding players who play well for you in the minors , with a Sept call up.........r we good yet??? We will know in another  5 weeks.

The '91 Twins were 8 games ahead of the second team on September 1st.  If that is the case with the '15 Twins, I do not mind if they call (and sign) Toby Gardenhire and Trey Vavra up come September.  If it is not...

I don't. Winning teams do not bring up scrubs to bring up scrubs.  The days of Dinkelmans, Tolberts, Watkinses etc taking MLB PAs (instead of the likes of, lets say, Sano, Buxton, Kepler, Polanco) should stop for this team to win.

Been a while.

Let's put some context to this though. No one with a pedigree even close to that of the four studs you mentioned was passed up in favor of Dinkelman. And none of these scrubs jeopardized a playoff run, did they? If they're in contention in September, we're not going to see Beresford and Ortiz.
