Can't really argue with the list, maybe a quibble here or there - I think Dallas Keuchel and Rene Rivera weren't great choices. Keuchel b/c I think he's going to be a journeyman with one career season and Rivera hasn't done much although it's hard to pick catchers at this point.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I love these kinds of lists. Mostly because I like to pick apart these kinds of lists. I always find it funny that people makes lists based on what they consider faulty perception, then use their own subjective perception for the evaluation. Is Kyle Seager really underappreciated? As far as I can remember, he was considered one of the best 3B last year by just about everybody and the Mariners just gave him a huge extension buying out his arb years. Legares was given a Gold Glove last year, seems to me that shows a great deal of appreciation. And in what world is Ben Zobrist not known as one of the best all round players in the game? Sure my mom doesn't know who he is, but everybody who follows baseball does.
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Yeah, you'd think players that won a gold glove or were named to the All-Star Team would be "appreciated" instead of "underrated." Some of the players that I thought were overlooked actually do get a lot of recognition. For example, before this season, I felt like Jonathan Lucroy was underrated - but then he made the All-Star team and was top 5 for the NL MVP. He's not underrated anymore. Adrian Beltre seems to not get quite the appreciation he deserves, but it's not like he's anonymous either.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Zobrist gets moved to utility so Dozier can make the list? My starting second baseman for this team would still be Ben Zobrist, with Dozier his backup.
jimmer Verified Member Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I think it's possible to be acknowledged as a good, well thought of player, and still be under-rated.
