Wasn't trying to tear him down intentionally, just meant to point out that his career was not was not very distinguishable from that of hundreds or thousands of others.  In perspective .291 puts him at #359 all time, and his career line is .291/.332/.423, which is meh.  Combine that with playing for 7 MLB and 1 KPB team in 14 years, and I don't think I was being overly critical of his caereer.  He is a name many Twins fans are very familiar with because of his years with the Indians, but he exists more on the periphery of baseball than in the category of guys with "accomplishments".

lol.  Not distinguishable from hundred or thousands?    359th of all time distinguishes him from the 358 that did better than him and from the 17,723 that did worse than him.

Vargas was playing in the PR league to help develop his baseball skills, and part of that is developing mentally, and if part of that is being subjected to discipline by the manager for his conduct on or off the field I am all for it if it help develop him for future success in the major leagues.

Another element that is not directly related to this -- but sort of considering Vargas had to apply for more time from the Twins -- is that at the beginning of the offseason Terry Ryan was opposed to having Vargas play a ton of winter ball:

"I don't think Vargas should play too much," Ryan said. "He's played for two straight years. I'm not saying he should skip (winter ball), just scale it back. He's had a tremendous year, but sometimes it's better to back off on some of these younger players."

Just a guess and speculation. Maybe the three guys were benched because they weren't preparing, were late. Hung over. Something like that. In that scenario, hard to be ticked at Baerga. The owner may have been upset because the fans paid to watch the key guys and Baerga, a vet wanted these guys to learn a lesson and develop.

I don't mean to go too far off topic, but that is more or less the same as Torii Hunter's career line.  With his age 39 season coming up, I think "meh" is going to be a pretty optimistic projection.
