Mike Berardino (tweet) was perusing the International League transactions page when he said that the Twins had signed lefty Wil Ledezma. The 33 year old left-hander spent time in the big leagues from 2003-2011 with the Tigers, Braves, Padres, Diamondbacks, Nationals, Pirates and Blue Jays.

He pitched in Mexico last year.

Hasn't pitched in the MLB since 2011, I wouldn't have guessed that.  I'd think that he is an extremely long shot to make the opening day 25-man.  Odds are against him ever getting called up.  Logan Darnell has pitched just as many MLB innings as he has this decade.

He always had a live arm though.

Twins Caribbean staff searched far and wide for an available LHRP (who just happened to be playing on the same winter ball team as Pinto and Escobar).

His K/9 was pretty good in Japan (2012-2013) and Mexico (2014) and Venezuela this winter. Can't hurt to give him a chance. If he's no good, it won't take long to figure that out.

Ledezma's Japan K/9 was below league average.  He did best that in Mexico and in Venezuela so far, which surprised me -- I thought they might be higher-K leagues, but not really.

Off topic, but interesting from the Venezuelan stats that Eduardo Escobar is still basically repeating his stats there from last winter -- low-ish average and OBP but decent power.
