TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I would say that that today's Wild is closer to a Stanley Cup than the Twins are to a championship, yes. If someone is going to win a championship in the next thirteen months, it will be the Wild. I just don't think they are going to win the Cup this year or next and then the window will start closing. I could be totally wrong. As this board has shown ample evidence of - trying to project 3-4 years out is basically impossible.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 2006 was the only season under Gardy that they lost as the better team in a series, while they won one as the inferior team in 2002, so pretty much a wash. But to be extra clear - I think Gardy should be gone two seasons ago.On your latter point, we probably agree, so we're just splitting hairs. Losing to better teams or not, that playoff record had become beyond embarrassing. I started to dread going to the playoffs, and I think I will feel the same if the Twins ever get back there with Gardy at the helm, even if the cast of players is completely different (although that would be an excellent problem to have as early as 2015 ).
