USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Nuno has thrown 79 pitches through 3 innings. #notpitchingtocontact
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Hughes has been a genuine bright spot in this awful season. If the Twins can load up on more pitching this offseason and find another Hughes, it will be twice as nice to watch this team.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I blame Halsey.

Circus Boy Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Three things... 1. I was singing a Milli Vanilli song in the shower this morning. Wife said I sounded as good as the original. "How do you know that?" I asked. 2. Yes, it's the end of another hard year. But damn it, kids, it's been a lot darker for the Boys from the Twin Cities. On this date in 2000, as talk swirled of folding our tent through contraction, the last-place Twins defeated the first-place White Sox at the Dome 6-5 in 10 innings. Down 5-0 in the 7th, we came back with 4 runs in our half as A.J. Pierzynski clubbed a 3-run shot. In the bottom of the 8th, Denny Hocking -- yes, the heir to Cesar Tovar and Nick Punto's daddy -- tied it up with a sharp single to center, scoring Torii Hunter who'd tagged a triple to lead off. We won in the 10th on Matt Lawton's 2-out, full count homer. It was our 67th win. And we went on to play winning baseball the rest of the decade. Well played, Mr. Hocking. Better days are coming. 3. I don't remember the third thing. That is all.
Whammy Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 The only thing that matters about today's game is Hughes not giving up a walk. Zero walks would give him the ALL TIME best K/BB ratio, for a season. http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/strikeouts_per_base_on_balls_season.shtml
James Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Late to the game. Sounds like the D-backs are already on pitcher #2.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Bring it home, game threaders, end the home season with a win. I have a date with my granddaughter at the zoo. I'm out.
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 So far so good on that front - he's added a few Ks.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 This game is moving along smartly... Good thing, too. The first game of the series, I had two children that I know of in the 1st inning and by the 6th, I had three.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Just saw the replay on Plouffe's injury. I don't think we have to worry about error #15.

James Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Ooh. That replay of Plouffe... I don't think he'll be back for a while. Update: Fractured left forearm. He's officially done for the year.
big dog Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Just saw the replay on Plouffe's injury. I don't think we have to worry about error #15.Yeah, I'm listening with the sound off so I didn't hear any commentary, but I don't need to. His reaction told it all.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Years ago I saw a guy that looked just like that on Nicollet Island, but he was laying next to the alley holding a bottle in a brown paper bag!Nick Nolte?
Platoon Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Good thing, too. The first game of the series, I had two children that I know of in the 1st inning and by the 6th, I had three.Lucky for you it only went 9 innings!
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 it's the Danny Santana show today... not a bad program, even the re-runs are good.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Just taking up space so it gets to page 3.
FattCrapps Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 The Twins better find a way to lose...the Red Sox are only a game back.
James Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 They might just call this game... due to the fact that both teams don't care that much. nothing to do with the rain.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Just taking up space so it gets to page 3. So tell us, Mr. Smith, are we at war with Eastasia or Eurasia? (Page 3, here we come!)
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 dang Hughesie is throwing another gem!
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I am at work, but hoping that you can make it to page 3.
Whammy Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 The delay make Hughes's record basically official.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Gotta get Hughes one more out to reach the incentive. Somehow get him back out there!
Mike Frasier Law Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 So if I remember right, Hughes needs 8 1/3 innings to get his bonus. He's at 8. I wonder if he's done. If he comes back and walks a batter, he needs 2 more ks to maintain the single season record for k/bb ratio.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I'd let him pitch one inning out of the pen later, and not today..... Did they really sacrifice bunt in the first inning?
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Nick Nolte?Little know fact, Nicolette Island is actually a blending of this two names, and is named after him. He was a voyager in his youth and discovered it on an exploratory mission looking for beaver. He is actually 400 years old, while many would argue he only looks 375.
James Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I'm going to propagate the idea (correctly or incorrectly) that the Pohlads are cheap and they are calling the dugout/clubhouse now telling Gardy not to let Hughes go back out there.
