Not a pretty win, but any win is a good one and Mastro was productive.

Finally just watched the game. First, Jared Burton's performance is not surprising. When healthy, he has been a very good reliever in his career. Second, Mastroianni and Komatsu are good additions to the team. Quick, on-base guys are valuable, and I am glad that these two have been successful. I am not sure what the future with the Twins is for either of them, but given Joe Benson's struggles, who knows?

I thought this was a very good game. My cousin and I waited through the rain delay and watched the entire proceeding, along with about 8-10,00 others! Props to Gardy for pinch running Komatsu--the run Komatsu scored with aggressive baserunning was the game winner. Nice job by Capps, another very good inning for Burton, not so much for Perk but Parmelee and Willingham saved him. The sixteen hopper that got through for Mastro and J-Will's bloop double counteracted most of the Jays 4 homers. Dozier had a tough game--made an error and was 0-fer at the plate, but he still looks confident. Even though Plouffe was hitless, at least he made the plays at third and his throws were fine. Blackburn looked okay until the sixth, then boom walk boom, which made for another ugly line for him.

It was nice the Twins gutted out a win like that, they looked like a team playing for themselves and dare I say, their manager. Blackburn was serviceable, at some point he has to realize he can't get away with pitches like he made to Bautista and Thames, 1 maybe, not 3. Mastro redeemed himself after a terrible SO in the 2nd with runner's aboard. The overall plate discipline was again brutal last night, I was in Canada last night and was watching the Canadian broadcast, they were just amazed that the Jays were still in the game through the 1st 4 innings after the way Drabek pitched. Said they haven't seen a team swing at so many pitches outside the strikezone all year and many of them weren't even close like Plouffe's last SO and both of Dozier's, let alone a number of the bad pitches they made contact with for outs. They correctly commented that a disciplined offensive team would have had Drabek out of that game in the 2nd inning last night.

Oh well, it wasn't everyone, Mauer was good at the plate, Carroll drew an important walk and Parmelee's walk after Plouffe's brutal SO was huge. I love the win, I didn't love that they failed to execute again at key points in the game, it must drive Gardy nuts to see good performance almost wasted by not bearing down. The ray of hope is that maybe it's something to build on.

I think masti will do well as a utility guy till he gets more experience. If they use Komatsu as solely a pinch runner I'm ok with that I really don't think he's worth starting any day of the week, his swing is attrocious and his fielding is dime a dozen
