Parmelee just has too much trouble reacting to fastballs to ever hit much at the ML level, IMO. That's the bugaboo that eventually catches up to most players as they move up the amatuer and then professional levels, and it's generally not fixable.

I used to cheat in fastball situations. It made me look like an idiot when I got hit with a change-up.

What am I going to do? My wife wants me to putter in the garden with her.

You're going to say "yes dear," and go putter in the garden. Just like the rest of us would.

Driver, then putter, would be my advice.

If I know what's good for me. Except it always evolves into a huge project. I've put in a paver patio, a brick sidewalk, and a limestone wall in the last 2 weeks.

Probably true, yet opposite of the view expressed by apocryphal letter home from a minor leaguer: "I'll be home soon, Mom. They've started throwing curveballs."

Probably typical. Don't most players hate being made to look like an idiot against a fastball?

My Dad started me hitting when I was 4, and he had a mean knuckler. I had a swing at everything approach, so by the time I got to high school, I could literally hit anything. He wanted to kill me when I decided to play football.

That actually happened at my work once … a player showed up for a concert, and was called in and terminated right before the concert started. Was very upsetting for everyone.

Is there a roster limit for symphonies?

Missed the entire weekend so far building a house for a homeless person. Anything happen?

Habitat for Humanity?

So I take it from miscellaneous twitter responses that there must be people complaining about the TC Bear statue???

My only complaint would be that any Minnesota Bear should have a can of Hamm's in his hand.

Nope, just a church group from my daughter's church building a house on an Indian Reservation. Single mom, three kids, living in a one room shack.

This is why I've never been huge fan of Deduno ... you never know which Deduno you are going to get on any given day.

Heh ... we say that in my business (can't believe I'm relating my business to this thread twice in one day) when former 'pop' stars work the orchestra circuit.

We go to a concert at Ravinia every summer. My sis in law lives in Evanston.

Kind of thought the Astros would be the perfect team for Deduno, but when he did throw good pitches, he couldn't miss any bats. Probably doesn't matter today as the offense doesn't look like it's going to score anyway. The one problem of having a good bench today is that all the bench players are in the lineup at once. But still early if Swarzak can hold them to one or zero here.
