Gardenhire to miss Mariners series

Just read the blog post, and I couldn't commend you more for demanding accountability from the team's "leadership." If we want to return to respectability in the AL, more fans are going to have to make these demands. Gardy cannot lead by example.

Oh my gosh....I want to rip my hair out reading this stuff. Are you just trying to get a reaction like thrylos supposedly is or do really mean what you just typed? Accountability means facing the music for the results on the field. It does not mean you should have to make a 2-second cameo at your daughter's graduation so other people don't say you're "abandoning ship."

Listen I almost blame this season entirely on the players, but someone has to take the fall. Gardy did some wonderful things for the Twins, but he will be fired. Look at Francona, he won two world series and was let go. Ozzie Guillen was basically fired, and he won a world series. I know people will say how the Twins are such a loyal organization, but they fired Bill Smith. However if you replace Gardy with someone on the current staff that does nothing. It has to be someone who is a different. Obviously it would be great to get Francona and if you think about it Minnesota is a OK location for him. Great Ballpark, less media pressure, and superstar in Joe Mauer. No other team in baseball would keep there manager if he had back to back 90+ loses in a season. It is fair, maybe not but it is what should and will happen

I'm done refuting posts like this. There are reasonable arguments in support of changing managers, and I'm willing to engage in discussion of those.

But the anti-Gardy stuff being thrown out here is to baseball debate what "Obama is a Kenyan-born Muslim" is to political debate. It is backed by blind hatred as opposed to facts or logic, and thus unworthy of being taken seriously.

Did you break the '0' key on your keyboard and couldn't add the proper amount of them?

:D

I guess I sounded a bit harsh, but talk about beating a dead horse.

Please read my comment here...

The reason I wrote this here and posted this blog, was to make people think. And react. And, yes graduation is a huge deal and I am glad that Gardy is going to his daughter's and that will probably save him some pepsids or five.

The point is that, a whole bunch of us agree that this team will not miss Gardenhire. But this confession could not come easy. Someone had to play the role of the Pujol (sic) and pin the role of Gardy as a leader of the Twins vs. that of him as a dad (and that was me being the Pujol.)

So, my point is, and even the most stern Gardy apologists (when his dadhood was artificially apparently questioned) agreed that he brings no value to the team and he better be with his family than the Twins, when the Twins reached rock bottom...

Just some food for thought folks...

What a load of self-serving, self aggrandizing B.S. Yeah you're a real Joan Garcia, someone gag me...please!

First of all, I am one of the alleged Gardy "apologists" and did not at any point claim he had no value to the Twins. You said in your original post "Where are his priorities"? Which assumes the question "with his daughter or with his team"? It also infers that his priorities should be with the Twins and if they aren't it proves he is not the right guy for the job.

From a person who is responsible for a considerable amount of employee hiring, he is exactly the kind of guy any self respecting organization desires to have working for them. It's reassuring that the people he works for have the same values.

100% agreed. If I was an owner and my manager wanted to blow off his daughter's graduation in order to prove his dedication to the team, I would wonder what kind of person I had hired. I find it interesting to watch someone back pedal after making a bold assertion that essentially blows up in their face.

Gardy sacrifices his family time for about 6 months of every year. His daughter has earned a solid weekend of him saying he's proud.

As for the Seattle series... It's not like he ran out the door and threw the keys to the plumber or Ice Cream Vendor. He's got a coaching staff who have watched a game or two.

Guys are missing an important point. With Obozo in office a college degree is damn near useless. If he is willing to wave a wand and forgive all student loans then that degree was free and worth what was paid for it nothing at all. Plus unless she plans on working for a union they aren't any jobs with the socialist in chief running the show. Twins = USA both are a complete **** show!!!!!!!
