Olivo bites off part of ear

This is a bit insane. I always sorta liked Oliva, tough guy, could hit LHP. Morneau tried to run through him once and ended up coughing up blood and missing a few games back in the day.

Apparently he didn't believe he belonged in Albuquerque. Well, he'll surely get his wish now.

Guerrero has had (will have?) plastic surgery on the ear. And will probably be out about 5 weeks (per what I heard on the radio this a.m.).

 

First thing i thought of when I heard this? Jose Mijares should be grateful that Delmon Young wasn't an ear biter.

On my what not to do when attempting to get back to the major leagues, things like "not hustle" will need to be replaced with "do not bite team members ear off"

I'm not sure it's still considered cannibalism if they still had the left over ear to reattach. Sounds like Olivo had second thoughts about swallowing.

 

Unless they had to retrieve it from Olivo's stool.
