I couldn't resist posting this story--strange and funny. Andrew Albers makes an appearance around 1:50 into the video. http://www.businessinsider.com/korean-baseball-team-packing-stadium-robot-fans-2014-7
While this isn't "My Dinner with Andre" or "Tuesdays with Morrie", I did have dinner with someone on a Tuesday. During Monday's game thread our very own "scene setter" and moderator Riverbrian noted that he was in Rochester. I work in that fair city and live just over 20 miles away. I contacted Brian when he asked about bakeries, and we agreed to meet for beers and dinner while watching the middle game of the Twins-Indians series. I really didn't know what to expect. I knew that RB was in t

The Twins offense has struggled to score runs recently (what's new?) and Joe Mauer is still working his way back from injury. The scholarship program is over in Minnesota (again) as Matt Guerrier was DFA'd to make

Over the past year, Lewis Thorpe has exploded on the scene. An unknown commodity heading into the GCL last season, he was so dominant as a 17 year old that he has appeared on various preseason Twins’ top 10 prospect lists. He has made even more news this year, skipping the Appalachian league and going straight to A ball from extended spring training. However, the Midwest league has not been kind to Thorpe, who has posted a 5.40 ERA with a 31:15 k:bb ratio in 35 innings over 8 GS. Despite these s
Here's what Dad and I discussed on Troy's Twins Chat. Dad and I talked about today's game. We discussed iwhether or not the Twins are buyers or seller. Also, I previewed the series with the not so Mighty Whities of Chicago. This is the second installment breaking down each minor league affiliate for players to watch as the season winds to a close. The GCL has six players worthy of mention: 1. Amaurys Minier, SH, LF/1B, DOB: 1/30/96 2014 statistics: 90 plate appearances, .304/.378/.456, 6 double, 0 triples, 2 homer, 9 walk, 29 strikeouts, 0 steals, 2 times caught stealing. Minier has shown big improvements in his second stint in the GCL. His power is still developing and there are still many improvements to ma
I know it's a little late for yesterdays game but here's my Around the Bases for the Monday win against the Cleveland Indians. Single: Starting pitcher Kris Johnson earns the Single award for a well thrown game. Johnson didn't get the win but he continues to grow as a pitcher in the Major League level. Last night's game was Johnson's third game this year. His first game was May 1st and he pitched four innings and gave up zero runs. He gave up five runs in four innings a couple weeks ago for hi
The Florida State League announced that Byron Buxton was that league's player of the week. In games played from July 14-20 and he went 10-for-20 at the plate with one triple, two home runs, four runs batted in and scored six runs. Buxton is currently listed as day-to-day after being hit on the wrist by a pitch. He is expected to be back in the line-up by the end of this week. There were a few different roster moves made throughout the system on Tuesday. Yohan Pino was recalled by the Twins to
The Cedar Rapids Kernels dropped an ugly 5-2 game to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers back on July 9 and Kernels manager Jake Mauer clearly was not a happy man afterward. His line up had left eight runners stranded in scoring position on the night and played some shoddy defense in a loss on a night when Kernels pitching combined to strike out 13 opposing hitters. “We’re going to have some changes,” Mauer promised that night, in a post-game interview. After reading the weakest minor league report ever posted on TD.. Make sure you dont miss....Garver homers 3 times.. Here is the Link http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140721&content_id=85563240&fext=.jsp&vkey=recap&sid=t492
I am working through the minor league system team by team and providing six to ten players to watch for the remainder of the season. I will start here at the bottom in the Dominican Summer League and work all the way through Rochester. This provides a nice mix of known and unknown players to pay attention to for the rest of the dismal 2014 Twins season. My DSL players to watch: 1. Lewin Diaz, 1B, LH, DOB: 11/19/96 2014 statistics: 92 plate appearances, .272/.359/.457 (.815), 6 doubles, 0 t
Start #3 for the 21-year-old went well again. He tossed three scoreless innings with no walks. He gave up one hit and had three strikeouts. In 8 IP through 3 starts, he's given up 0 runs, 1 hit, 3 walks, and 13 strikeouts.
I am not a follower of Donald Trump. I have participated in several no kings rallies and am disgusted with what he and his followers have done to our country and the world. I would like to know what most Brazilians feel about the United States now and about the folks our citizens have elected to represent us.
