  1. OK, Seth, how did you arrange for your top pitcher to get promoted to AAA the day you filed this report? And only 3 walks the entire month! To bad that Ober goes down with another injury. This kid can't get a break.
  2. Count me among those that would not trade KIrilloff. Would trade Lewis, Larnach and any of the other position players before him.
  3. I clicked that I liked this comment. But that ain't enough, getting Kirilloff back on the field may be the most exciting thing I have heard so far this season. Now, lets see him pick up where he left off last year!!! As for your pitching comments, Seth, could Jax be the one moving up? Or Graterol?
  4. After dodging bullets in two of his first three appearances, Tyle Jay wasn't good in his last appearance. Then he gave up four runs on four hits and two walks in two innings last night. I guess it just isn't gonna happen for this former top pick. Had the Twins hit on this pick, they could have had another very good player at Target Field right now. Will be interesting to follow Rijo over the next few years. As for tonight, looking forward to seeing if Alcala can get back on track after giving up 11 earned runs in his last two starts. Also looking forward to seeing how Fort Myers does with Duran on the hill and Sano back in action. Who knows, maybe we will even see Kirilloff in game action one of these days.
  5. Monday was a wonderful night to watch baseball as the Twins played the best game I have seen in awhile. Don't know if last night was its equal or better, but it sure seemed better...Perez just looked in total control and a few hitters brought more excitement than Monday.
  6. A bit surprised at Wiel's .253 average as I see him often having multi-hit games in the daily reports. Will be interesting to see if we ever see him at Target Field. Has to be rewarding to Cabbage having this type of early success. The other player on this list I am happy to see is Rortvedt, who can become a major asset for the Twins should his performance continue to get better as he moves up the ladder.
  7. Great seeing Stewart go back down and deliver a very good start. It's early, but he seems to be the best candidate to aid the starting rotation if/when another starter is needed. Was Sammons removed from the game because of their 35 pitch per inning rule? Not certain getting hit and then walked is what management was looking for in Sano's first start. Hopefully, he will get some opportunities to swing the bat this week. Good to see Rortvedt continue playing good baseball. Sure feels like his hitting has taken a another positive step this year while playing good behind the plate. Add that he swings from the left side and sure looks like the catcher we need to join Garver on the Twins roster at the end of next year.
  8. Ouch!!! Just don't feel good when Pineda is on the mound. Hopefully, he will shake off the rust and get better as the season and temp warm up. So glad that Gibson appears to be getting back to the Gibson we expect, Odorizzi has been good (except that one clunker), and Perez a pleasant surprise. Hopefully, they will sit down with Gibson's rep and do a reasonable extension come July. Who could they summons from Rochester? Maybe Stewart could be league average? Otherwise, the only hope I see is Thorpe and doubt he would be ready before mid-summer.
  9. Thanks, that was the game I was thinking of, just couldn't recall the details. Which is best, flip a coin. Now, lets see him back this up with more starts like last night.
  10. Really looking forward to Kirilloff getting on the field this week to confirm he is now the best hitting machine in the minors. I thought there was a real chance he was the Twins top prospect last year. As for Lewis, I recall he had some injury while playing for the Twins in an early spring training game. Is it possible he is battling a lingering injury and it is affecting his game? Haven't heard anyone talk about this, just trying to understand why he is struggling in the same league he did very well in last summer.
  11. Coming into this series I was hoping the Twins could split. Win one of three would have been ok. OK, we have the one win and will be going for the split tonight. With Verlander out of the way, can we win 2 of 3? Was that the best game Odorizzi has pitched as a Twin? I seem to remember one very good outing last year, but not the details. And wasn't it fun watching a real pitchers duel? Loved it!
  12. You hit it on the head, Seth, that Thorpe's overall line didn't indicate how well he threw. Saw he had 96 pitches, do you think he just ran out of gas early in the season? Also would have helped if Moya hadn't let all three of his runners score. His rehab hasn't gone that well, which is probably why he was optioned to AAA. Have liked Jax for a long time. Another very good outing from a pitcher I expect will surprise many of us. Don't have a clue exactly what type of pitcher he is, but foresee his success at the big league level being similar to someone like Scott Baker. Will be curious tonight to see how Stewart backs up his start in Houston back at Rochester?
  13. Welcome aboard Markos. Don't know if I would be credited for driving his bandwagon, but I have been at the wheel for a few laps around the track...after all he is a Verona, WI kid. I have been saying for well over a year that I believe there is a real chance this kid could be the Twins catcher for much of the next decade. With Garver improving as much as he has, Rortvedt has time to continue his development before breaking in sometime in 2021. He can begin as Garver's backup, then replace him when Garver becomes too expensive for the Twins. Who knows, maybe the Giants will give the Twins a future ACE, another minor league prospect and a future shutdown closer as a throw-in.
  14. Are you saying, Seth, that what you saw isn't a future ACE like his early numbers hint at?
  15. I'll also be happy, Nick, with three wins this week. Did I hear correctly on the radio yesterday that Kirilloff is expected back sometime this week?
  16. Was I correct hearing on the radio yesterday that Kirilloff is expected back playing in games this week? And Sano at Fort Myers on Tuesday? How much of Smeltzer have you seen in person, Seth? Can this kid be as good as his numbers indicate? Great seeing Miranda playing better of late. Really need some of the bats to catch up with the pitchers early this year. Looking forward to tomorrow to see if Thorpe backs up his last two starts. Also, always looking forward to seeing how Jax does.
  17. Great seeing Lewis have a multi-hit game. Now let's see him go on a nice 8-10 game hitting streak to get his season going. Was a bit surprised we didn't see Kirilloff play for the Miracle last night on his bobblehead night. Must not be that close to being ready to get back out there. Agree with JLease above that they need to figure out a way to get more playing time for both Rortvedt and Jeffers, although I do see that both have played several games as DH. But the year is early, still lots of time to split them so they each can play two-thirds of the games behind the plate. Excited to see how Smeltzer does today! A few more starts like his first starts and he could force himself up to Rochester.
  18. About a month before the season began, I predicted the Twins would hit between 225 and 240 home runs. That's beginning to look conservative. Unfortunately, we will be done with the O's after today. I guess roster logjams have a way of working themselves out. Astudillo to the IL for 10 days or two weeks. Then he will go to Rochester for a week of rehab before being ready to come back. Did Cave have time down there to even play in a game? The big question is what happens when Sano is ready in three weeks? Gotta believe they do something about the duplication of Gonzales and Adrianza. Maybe they can package one of them with a good prospect for a relief pitcher.
  19. Double ouch at AAA and AA. Alcala needs to get back on track or the Pressley trade is gonna be a clunker. Looks like it is going to be a fun summer whenever Ober and Balazovic are starting. Does anyone have a crystal ball that will tell us if one of these guys develops into that true ACE the Twins really need? See that Helman had a 7 game hitting streak that was broken a couple games ago. Good seeing him starting to get on track as he has hit everywhere he has been.
  20. Not a lot to get excited about from last night's action. The one player who seems to be playing better of late is Larnach. He has a .325 average in his last ten games which brought his average up to .270. A bit surprising he has zero home runs, but he does play in a league with big ballparks. Hopefully, Balazovic will be as good tonight as Enlow was disappointing last night. Always look forward to days when he, Alcala and Ober are on the hill. Will tonight be the night we see Kirilloff in action with the Miracle? Or maybe tomorrow?
  21. As I was reading the comments for the third time today, was thinking about strikeouts and Lewis Thorpe. Took a look and saw that his 33 K's are second in the IL, one behind the leader who has pitched 2.1 innings less than Thorpe. Who was the last Red Wing to lead the IL in strikeouts? Was it Liriano however many years ago? Decided to go back and look and saw that Liriano didn't lead the league, although he probably was in the lead when called up. Taylor Rogers was second and Alex Meyers tied for the league lead several years ago. Hopefully, Thorpe can keep this up and be a real asset for the Twins late this year and beyond.
  22. Forgot that the Kernels use a six man rotation. Great hearing that Kirilloff is playing in EST. That means he has to be close to being back on the field for games. Best news I have heard all day.
  23. Not being critical, however, curious about your decision to have Moran as the pitcher of the day rather than Jax? See that Sano is now playing baseball in EST games. Does anyone know if Kirilloff is also playing in EST? Looking at today's starters, have the feeling Enlow hasn't pitched in awhile. Did he miss a start? Or has C.R. had some cancellations?
  24. Loved this article about the Blue Wahoos, Steve, especially the link to the local article about Jax, who I see as a diamond in the ruff. With so few innings professionally, he just might end up being a special Twin. I see him as becoming someone similar to Scott Baker. Am I correct that Graterol pitched around 100 innings last year? Do you think it is possible the Twins will keep him in the rotation until he has 90-100 innings, then move him to the pen to limit his innings and give him the chance to come up and help the Twins as a reliever in August/September/October.
