As we saw last night, the bullpen needs help. A lot of it. When Festa returns, could he become the next Jax?

The most joyful moment I have had this year was watching Buxton's triple the other day. Whether it is in center field or running the bases, the man is a joy to watch. I for one, hope he remains with the Twins for his entire career. When Luke Keaschall has his ten-year moment with the Twins, he might refer to what Buxton meant to him prior to Buxton's retirement a few years earlier. Yes, I hope we continue seeing Buxton playing with the Twins for at least another six or seven years. That pair will bring so much joy to all Twins fans. Hopefully, one of the current group of young outfielders will be as special to make it a threesome. Add a few other solid players, some real good pitching and a great manager and they just might enjoy a championship right here at Target Field.

Isn't it great seeing Keaschall begin hitting like everyone expected. Love this kid. When Buxton motioned to the bench and walked off the field, I feared the worst. So happy he missed only one game. What has been most surprising is the bullpen that is getting decent results. Total surprise after all our super relievers left the organization last July. How long will it continue? Add me to the list of those who want to see Roden up and Outman out, asap.

Twins Minor League Report (4/3): Dueling One-Hitters
rdehring replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Guessing you thought hard about Moring being the Pitcher of the Day. Did a double take when reading the Strib earlier as I didn't have a clue who he was. Nice professional debut. Any word on how long Buxton is expected to be out? If its around 10 days, will be interesting who gets the call from St. Paul? -
Found your comments about Ross's defense interesting, Seth. Very interesting. Curious how he would compare to Houston, who some have called one of the best shortstops in minor league ball? Also surprised you included AJ. Didn't know his D at short was that special. What an odd start to the season for DeBarge. Wins the minor league gold glove, then commits a throwing error in his first game. I think he led the minors in stolen bases last year, then gets caught on his first attempt. I know he set the Twins organizational record, did he also lead all of minor league ball?

Have said all spring that if this is the start of the Twins rebuilding into a competitive team, one of Abel or Bradley must take that last step into becoming someone comparable to Ryan. A legit Ace or very good #2. Don't know which, if either will take that step, but Bradley has looked awfully good in his first one-and-a half starts.

Any more information on Soto's injury? What is it? Any idea when he is expected back? Although I hope neither Soto nor Hill is on this team come season's end, that would be one heck of a pair to start the playoffs with. Maybe they will get to do that in Wichita? As mentioned above, I think Winokur will spend more time in the outfield than as an infielder. The five I will be most interested checking on in every morning's box score are: Hill, Soto, Tait, Winokur and Houston. With a bit of luck, we could see all five of them at Target Field a couple years from now

Will be interesting how Wichita does this year. Not a lot of top prospects on that team. On the other hand, Cedar Rapids looks a lot like the Saints, loaded. Recall that a 2025 draft pick, Ellwanger, pitched very well in the prospect game a few weeks ago against the Phillies. Don't see him on any roster. Does anyone know where he is headed? Also, when does the FCL begin play?

Thanks for another report, Seth. Should Roden keep hitting like his first few games, when will the Twins be forced to bring him up? A couple weeks? Early May? Later? Will Culpepper be joining him? Love this Saints team. Love'em!

So good to have you back for the start of another season. Welcome back Seth. And all of TD. After a couple early walks, Prielipp seemed like the pitcher we hope he will be for the Twins. If we can believe gameday, ball four on his first walk was strike three. And three of the four balls on the second walk were strikes. Seeing how little contact they made, his stuff has to be just plain filthy. Both Culpepper and Roden had fantastic first games. Expect they want the Twins to take notice of their intent on playing at Target Field. And soon. The Strib said the game was on Twins.TV. Unfortunately, it wasn't, so followed along on game day. Didn't realize it was in the low 40's, which can affect how they handle the pitchers. Several AAAA relievers had nice nights. Will one of them work his way into being this year's pleasant surprise? TD should have some type of pool projecting how soon these six young guys will arrive at Target Field? Can't be too soon for me.

Don't know if the Saints would win a three-game series against the Twins. Maybe? But they sure as heck are going to be more interesting to watch this spring. Great seeing that TwinsTV will carry the game tonight. Does anyone know if some of their games will be carried on that over the air station that had games last year?

Minnesota Twins 2026 Season Preview: Find The Fun
rdehring replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Thanks for a great message as opening day is upon us. Like most of you, this can be an exciting season if the Twins get at least a half dozen of these prospects playing at Target Field by August 1 at the latest. The most enjoyable game I watched this spring was the prospects game against the Phillies last week. Surprised TD didn't have more coverage of that game as there were several players to be excited about. -
Can the 2026 Twins Avoid Being a Disaster Defensively?
rdehring replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Interesting article, Nick. Also very sad. Don't have a clue what the new GM plans on doing about this situation, if anything. As you stated they did nothing over the winter to improve their D. Matter of fact, it probably got worse. The only point I will disagree with is labeling Keaschall as poor defensively. With all his missed time the past three years and playing with a recovering arm, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully, he worked hard this winter and will be at least average at second base. Did those of you who went to spring training see any improvement from him? -

Here we go again, another article about a prospect talking mostly about power. Had he gone to UNC, or wherever he was headed, he would be playing college ball this spring before being a top draft pick. Let's give the kid a few years to develop into whatever type hitter he is destined to be. I for one will be enjoying watching him play for the Twins. Beginning?

Minnesota Twins 2026 Position Analysis: Relief Pitcher
rdehring replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Thanks for another good read, Nick. And thanks for all the information leading up to next Thursday. As for the bullpen, I believe it will not be as bad as we fear. On the other hand, I doubt it will be as good as we hoped. After everything he has gone thru would be great seeing Liam pitching near what he was before the health issues. Final question. Haven't the Twins indicated both Prielipp and Rojas are starters? Why are they included here?- 77 replies

3 Twins Pitching Prospect Predictions for 2026
rdehring replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
How can we not be excited about all three. Especially those two young guns who should make several stops this summer. Hopefully both are at AA come August. Considering how much time he has missed, I continue being impressed by Prielipp's rapid journey thru the system. Don't know and really don't care what his role is with the Twins come summer. I just want to see him on the mound at Target Field.- 9 replies

Thanks for a realistic report on the starting staff. At my age the glass better be half full, so I remain hopeful a couple of these young kids will take that last step and become solid starters for the Twins over the next 6+ years. I continue to hope that either Abel or Bradley will take a big last step and challenge Ryan for the Team Ace crown. Hopefully this year.

Assuming good health, both Buxton and Lewis should hit that mark. Gotta believe Lewis' bat will be better than we saw last year. Expect Keaschall to be a special player. He can be that without hitting 20 homes runs. As you stated, 10-15 would be fine to go along with 30 steals.

Watching today's game which reminds us you missed one player who is going to get some time at DH, Ryan Jeffers. Will probably be only 20-30 games, but his bat is going to be in the lineup most days. [edit: at least until July 31.]

Believe that Keaschall has a chance of being a special player. Reminds me so much of Bobby Witt. Can he become Bobby Witt light? Love seeing him have a big spring. Should the Twins have any chance of sniffing at the playoffs, one of Bradley or Abel needs to take that final step of being a near ACE this season. Someone who will battle Ryan as the team ACE. Looks like both are working towards that goal. Can one make it? Or both?

How did the Twins get into this position? I'll add Wallner to the list and you have three guys who should donate their gloves to some charity auction and come to the ballpark with only their bats. Do you have a feel Nick that Management understands this problem and will do something about it prior to the season, which is now only two weeks away?

Twins Daily 2026 Top Prospects: #2 Kaelen Culpepper, SS
rdehring replied to Lou Hennessy's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Keep thinking that Houston is the guy with the defense I want to see playing at Target Field. Reading this report has me thinking KC could/should be that guy. He's got very good D and a bat! Will he arrive later this summer? -
Minnesota Twins 2026 Position Analysis: Right Field
rdehring replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Won't disagree, NIck, with everything you said about his bat. I will be happy if I never turn on the Twins game and see Wallner in right field. Yes, he has a big arm. But too often those throws aren't on target. He also takes bad routes and too often misplays balls on the ground. I still remember what may have been his first game when he misplayed a ground ball that a little leaguer should have made. Big bat, yes. Bat that could be huge part of the Twins offense, yes. But please play him at DH.
