  1. I'll take a pitching coach the prefers location and pitch mix over throw hard, throw harder, and blow your arm/shoulder out.
  2. I don't want to see mid to low level free agents. I'd rather see, and assume most fans would, a team full of prospects and mixed in with current veterans that show the youngens how the game is supposed to be played.
  3. Unlike the previous manager. Does he have any emotion other than "droopy dog"?
  4. My apologies. I was injecting a little humor toward your statement. He got fired multiple times from the Yankees because Steinbrenner fired managers more than he changed underwear. He punched Boswell in MN, Aside from that, it kinda works in many different ways.
  5. Can't help but tip my hat to the Dodgers Yamamoto. Two complete games in a row. In the NLCS and WS nonetheless! Our former manager and front office wouldn't / won't allow a pitcher to throw 18 innings in a month!
  6. Based on some of the comments in here Ozzie Smith with his .66- (I can put three sixes together) OPS would have never been MLB worthy.
  7. "it seems counterproductive to trade away one of their few above-average hitters." Just because someone has a slightly higher OPS does not make him an above-average hitter. .202 BA with 40 RBI in over 500 AB's shows a well below average hitter. OPS is not the only batting metric.
  8. I have no doubt the "droopy dog" attitude from the skipper had a role in the players hitting woes.
  9. First! Then there's this. Making this statement without clarification is interesting. Why? "Suzuki and Shelton (for different reasons) are the only two truly undesirable names to be tied to the club so far."
  10. Keep him. I know the numbers aren't there and he's not a defensive force, but he passes the eye test. Unlike Wallner, he can go the other way, get's RBI without having to hit a home run, and doesn't seem to chase (as much). I think a new manager that has a consistent lineup and doesn't pinch hit in the 2nd inning (exaggeration to make a point) could be the tonic he needs to turn things around.
  11. I definitely see a player that could be a long term SS. 24 years old. Many of the attributes that he is lacking such as speed, agility, and strength can be improved on over the off season. He definitely has the head for the game so the question is does he know his weaknesses and is he willing to work on those?
  12. I too called him Rockhead. So when I saw this article I was hoping it was going to be funny. A nice try at Babylon Bee/Onion, but it fell short.
  13. With a relatively young team with a lot of prospects that are expected to play in the near future I'd say to look outside of the box. Find a seasoned college head coach who knows how to develop players, can relate to younger players, and focuses on fundamentals. College head coaches make the jump to the pro's all the time, except in baseball. This would be a good time to give it a try.
  14. There are a lot of "what ifs" that need to go the right way for this team to win. What the front office does as far as hiring a manager and signing the right free agent or two will make a big difference.
  15. While Falvey has pitchers blowing out their arms and other body parts by over throwing, Cleveland's pitchers are painting corners and throwing hitters off with a mix of off speed pitches and 91 mph fastballs. How about that? Emphasizing pitching and not throwing actually works.
  16. Questions #1 for the managerial candidate and if they fail this one they don't need to continue the interview. Do you believe lineup consistency is important?
  17. Ober's game, as described, is how pitcher's pitched for over a century. Those pitcher's threw complete games, topped 100 pitches, and had long careers. Yes, I know, there were still injuries and surgeries but I'm convinced when people look back at this time, it won't be considered the golden age of pitching.
  18. I'm not sure why everyone is convinced Larnach will be gone and Wallner stays. Wallner's 20 plus HR's and only 40 RBI's in a weird stat, and indicates not much clutch with RISP. I could see this being a complete rebuild and trading both. Throw in all of the chips and bring up Rodriguez and Jenkins and let the youth movement begin with Lee, Keaschall, Jenkins, and Rodriguez. I'll even throw in Lewis' name for youth movement purposes.
  19. I'm at the point that I believe Falvey has CIA or other deep state ties and is untouchable.
  20. I do like the Twins prospect pool and can see the Twins putting them on the field, much like what happened in 82 with Hrbek, Gaeitti, Viola, etc... and let them take their lumps.
  21. The chinsiest softball team would scoff at wearing this hideousness. I suppose Nike had to keep the kids busy in the sweatshop.
