  1. I'm glad they made this signing. I was worried they were going to try to sign Tucker. Dodgers loss.
  2. Even if you hit on one out of five value players. That means you have four players that aren't MLB level players. In looking at franchises that make the postseason, I don't see a lot of marginal players on the rosters that improved the team all because the GM had "hope".
  3. Based on the one pitch X video in the story, I say call him up!
  4. I definitely disagree with the column in the Twins developing pitchers after college. Getting them to throw harder to the point of injuring themselves is not teaching them to pitch. Adding movement, breaking pitches, location is teaching them how to pitch. Hopefully one day baseball will go back to the days where a starter isn't gassed after four innings and five bullpen pitchers are used to finish the game. Man, that's just ugly baseball.
  5. First! I suspect we won't see much improvement from the three. Mostly due to limited at bats because of their platoon situation. There is the distinct possibility of improvement if they end up elsewhere as I don't see all three making opening day.
  6. First! I don't hate the idea. I just wonder...if Walker said no once, wouldn't he probably say it twice?
  7. All valid arguments. You are correct. They will never improve. They are all static in their ability. They don't have any flaws in anything they do, they have just hit maximum ability.
  8. I didn't address the rest of the argument. Just the batting title portion. I should have elaborated.
  9. Not even close to the same thing. So are you saying when the Twins get a pitcher and he's throwing upper 80's he can't increase his velocity through practice. Are you saying that if you're an infielder a coach can't see bad footwork, bad arm slot, or improve reaction time? And yes, these people are very athletic and capable of improving in ways most people in sports can't. That doesn't mean you flip positions (although it seems everyone on the roster could be a first baseman), but you can improve on weaknesses.
  10. If you signed Lewis to an extension maybe he wouldn't worry about his contract so much and he could start making some mid-season adjustments.
  11. Luis "regressed" for one season so he becomes unsignable. Meanwhile, Bell has never won any batting championships and never will. Faulty logic.
  12. They are already good. They are in the major leagues. You can coach them to become better and consistency would be a part of getting better.
  13. Spring training for this squad better not be a country club getaway for the lads this year. They better spend a lot of extra time working on defense. Every day the core infield should be working away from everyone else until the season opener arrives. Defense wins championships (so does a lot of money)
  14. If you move Lee, move him to first base. He has enough range to cover that position and arm strength generally isn't an issue. Think of him as a 2020's Mientkiewicz.
  15. Maybe the former manager can bring in Falvey style front office thinking and we can watch the Dodgers come down to earth.
  16. Prediction. Season ending injury happens in the WBC for Buxton. I don't want it, but that just seems the Twins trend right now.
  17. $500 million? $500 million? How do the Pohlad's go $500 million in debt? I don't even care about the new ownership group. I want to know what you did to go that amount in debt. It's not like they head a government agency.
  18. Rojas' delivery at first glance reminds me of Francisco Liriano. That reminds me of arm issues. I hope I'm wrong.
  19. It would be a good story so why not? As long as he can get down to a playable weight. The video on the story makes it look like he's not pushing away from any buffet tables.
  20. It's too early to judge Martin and Roden. This article had no mention of launch angle or mph off the bat. Not to mention I have no idea of their average with balls in play. Without that info, I'm completely lost!
  21. Does anyone know if the new manager is like the former manager and thinks that a three inning start is a quality one?
  22. I'm not going to judge Lee's ability on essentially a half season. I see absolutely no reason why a good off season won't make him a top tier SS in both hitting and fielding. I know all the funky analytics don't match what I'm saying, but some people pass the eye test when it comes to certain sports. To me, he passes the test. He'll improve.
  23. Focusing on the human aspect instead of analytics makes me want to hug him.
  24. The still frame of youtube with Falvey, Shelton, and Zoll makes them look like they're more likely to play a game of 'Dungeons and Dragons" than it does a baseball brain trust. I've just become much less confident this team can turn things around quickly.
