  1. Turley is still under 60 pitches and seems to have hit a groove. He might go 7. That would be huge.
  2. And after 6 it was 4.32. That's WAY better than Gibson's after 6 starts. By like 3-4 runs.
  3. He would be "eligible". Today is day 10. Doesn't sound like he's ready though.
  4. I thought the rule was that the 26th man could only start game 2.
  5. Yeah, because the Twins have a long history of eating $39,000,000 in salary.
  6. Hmmm, not sure how you justify that statement. He looked serviceable enough through 6 starts. And what exactly should the Twins have done with Hughes if not have him in the rotation from day one? Have him in the pen? And who exactly would have been starting instead? A free agent? Do you know who the top free agent starting pitcher was last year? 800 year old Bartolo Colon.
  7. How many times has Rosario been thrown out on the bases this year? 5? 6? Down 4-0. Bad decision.
  8. Turley might be left out to be his own long man for awhile. His pitch count is still in good shape. The Twins have to get at least 5 from Turley. 6 would be fantastic.
  9. This is the first game I have seen Turley pitch live. I didn't see the game last week. I think Turley's repertoire might play better as a reliever. He would probably be at 95-96. The curve is okay, but a little more break would be nice.
  10. I think Turley wanted that pitch back as soon as he threw it.
  11. Just a hunch it has something to do with him being from Tennessee.
  12. A play like that illustrates the absurdity of having an on deck circle in this day and age. Every stadium now has a cage probably ten feet from the dugout.
  13. Just saw on the crawl that Victor Martinez was placed on DL with irregular heartbeat.
  14. There is a rule that a player is supposed to make reasonable effort to avoid HBP.
  15. Didn't say that I personally would sign him. Merely that trading Polanco or Gordon would be something you would do if your intention was to not trade (and perhaps resign) Dozier. I'm kinda on the fence on it. The Twins do not have ANY right handed power bats in their system anywhere close to ready (other than Sano of course). Nick Gordon, LaMonte Wade even Palka. All lefties. Kepler and Rosario are lefties. Castro is here for two more years, he also is a lefty. Sure, there's Park. But I did say "anywhere close to ready". I have doubts that Park will ever be an impactful MLB player. He turns 31 in a month - which makes him almost a full year older than Dozier - and has only 3 HR in 130 plus AB at AAA. I'm certainly not going to dangle a 5 year deal to Dozier. But extending him 2 or 3 years beyond what he is signed through now is something I might consider this offseason or maybe next year in ST, if the price is right.
  16. With Fort Myers and the rest of the FSL taking off for the All Star break, I don't expect Wells to pitch until at least Monday, June 19th. It's entirely likely it will be later than that. As I mentioned, my guess is that he will be shut down at about 100 IP and he is already over 60.
  17. It's something you might do if you had no plans to trade Dozier.
  18. Pretty sure Escobar isn't going to be an all star. Nunez was last year. Maybe he wasn't a typical all star but he was hitting around .300 and among the league leaders in SB.
  19. 2 weeks, heck ONE week ago Escobar was hitting .220. Over the long haul, the team is going to get more productivity from Vargas. He's simply a more powerful, more dangerous hitter. The problem with "riding the hot bat" is that there will inevitibly be a 3-4 game period where that bat has cooled but the manager hasn't made the adjustment yet. Better off sticking with a set lineup and an established rotation for the reserves.
  20. Sell high. Just like Nunez. He isn't close to the player that Nunez was when he was traded and he was controllable for longer. So he won't bring as much back. Maybe a reliever prospect or a long shot starter prospect. Polanco deserves to start. It's not like he's doing that badly.
  21. Really Eddie? Watching on gameday. That last pitch to Rosario looked like it almost hit him. And Rosario swung!!!
  22. Hmm, it took an all star infielder to acquire Mejia. In other words, a guy at the very top of his game. Nunez had a .760 OPS and 27 SB when the Twins traded him. He still had 2 full seasons of team control and has exceptional position flexibility. Rosario has never had an OPS above .750 despite playing a position of greater offensive expectation. Rosario is not a regular CFer. He has a career UZR 150 of -2.0 in CF. He can fill in occasionally, but really not more than 20-30 games per season. He's a good defensive corner OFer who hits like a good fielding CFer. I find it a little curious that you value a barely replacement level corner OFer over a 23 year left handed starter that can crank it in the mid 90s. There are a lot more of one of of those assets than there are of the other.
