  1. It did. If you live in Cleveland.
  2. Fun fact: There was some talk of the Northwest Angle (that's what that section of land at the "top" of Minnesota is called) seceeding from the United States 20 years ago and joining Canada - which would make sense geographically. The leaders of the Red Lake Indian nation (who own most of the land) did not support the idea and thus it went nowhere. So, the 120 or so residents are forced to drive through Canada to reach the rest of the state.
  3. One more bite of Wheaties today...
  4. Maybe it's just me, but the Twins TV network actively promoting Wisconsin Dells in pregame (and usually some during the game) pieces bugs me. Why not partner with tourist spots in Minnesota? North Shore? Mississippi River Wineries? Walnut Grove and the Laura Ingalls pagaent? I'm sure there is no shortage. I'm sure they would welcome the exposure. Explore MINNESOTA!
  5. Gold is just the windy Kansas wheat fields. Blue is just the Kansas summer sky...
  6. Turley hits 95 as a starter. Melotakis 91 as a reliever. Pretty simple math, actually.
  7. If he is injured, the Twins can't release him. If they try to trade him and the other team finds out about an injury that the Twins didn't mention, good luck to Falvey ever trying to make a trade again.
  8. None of what you say change the fact that Chargois was obviously injured at the start of the season. If he wasn't hurt, he would have pitched. Chargois isn't a doctor. He's not necesarily going to know the difference between pain and injury.
  9. No, he did not. He made two appearances in late April (20th and 25th - more than two weeks after the first game of the season) because they thought he was ready. If he had been on the MLB DL, they would have been considered rehab appearances.
  10. It was clear he was injured in April. Frankly, that should have been all that mattered to change his status from optioned to DL. But it wasn't. Once again the Twins organization is bowing down to the almighty dollar. That's why they remain a second rate organization.
  11. I think the Twins might have an issue with retroactively awarding service time and back pay. Otherwise, they would have taken that action in April.
  12. There is no such thing as a 60 day DL for the minors. Once the decision was made in March to option him to AAA and place him on the DL there, that ship sailed. I doubt it would be allowable to retroactively place him on the MLB DL unless his agent was successful with some sort of grievance. Which, frankly is possible and would likely even be successful. He was optioned because he pitched poorly in ST. He presumably was pitching poorly because of the injury. His agent could argue that Chargois should have been medically evaluated prior to being optioned.
  13. And how did those 8th, 9th, 10th, etc starters do? That's what I thought.
  14. I wonder if Haley to the 60 day might be one of the 40 man moves they make. I haven't heard anything about his status forever. That, I'm not sure is allowed however. Returning him to Boston is an option, of course. Not a whole lot of flotsam left on the 40 man for pitchers. Wimmers is about it.
  15. Duffey hasn't pitched since the 18th. Kinda odd. Of course, there was no need to use him today or yesterday.
  16. I don't think any other position player pitched more than twice in a single season or more than 4 times total.
  17. That's what I get for not being around last night. I hadn't even heard that Hughes had started throwing.
  18. Haley earns MLB service time on the DL. But rookie status (as far as qualifying for ROY) is dependant on reaching 50 IP and/or 45 days spent on the ACTIVE roster not including in September. I would guess he's only been active about 20-25 days so far. As far as I know, there is no limit to the amount of time he can spend on the DL.
  19. .229 OPS in April. .510 in May. .891 so far in June.
  20. Adding Hildenberger will require a 40 man transaction. Hughes to 60 day finally? He's already missed more than 30.
  21. Like the analysis in general.
  22. Regarding a player who was jerked up and down and in and out. Yeah, Michael Cuddyer springs instantly to mind. He also endured multiple position changes at the MLB level. Didn't get 500 PA in a season until age 27. Guess what? Flourished when he finally was allowed to play everyday. Went from a high 90 OPS+ to about 120 for the rest of his career. Not bad considering most of the rest of his career was on the downside of 30. But that's the Twins way.
  23. It should also be pointed out that the offense didn't exactly show up when Turley pitched. He received exactly 6 runs of support while on the mound. 5 of them were in his first start. The Twins scored 1 run in his last two starts.
