  1. I don't know that I agree with that. The common held belief is that Granite is most likely a role player at the MLB level. He's only a year younger than Rosario and older than Kepler and Buxton. No problem IMO calling him up to be a reserve player.
  2. Primarily because he lacks power. Not only will he never hit 3 HR in a game. That might be more than a full season's worth.
  3. Hope Kintzler isn't too tired after that loooooooooong inning.
  4. I guess I never noticed before how far Rosario is from the plate. That would leave him vulnerable to pitches on the outside edge.
  5. Who was that out there and what did he do with Matt Belisle?
  6. I'm not sure they still do this, but I remember years ago a story about the Japanese league. If a televised game went past it's allotted time, the broadcast was over. The league made sure that didn't happen very often. That's what it will take for things to really change here. The broadcasters will have to demand change.
  7. Isn't thoracic outlet surgery what Hughes had?
  8. He wasn't deriding velocity. Merely deriding not being able to locate velocity. Which Busenitz is not doing.
  9. You mean like the curve with which he got his strikeout?
  10. I have no idea how that is possibly ruled a hit. An on target throw gets him. Why even have fielding stats? I'm kinda curious to know- if anyone does. How do advanced fielding metrics handle that?
  11. Stunned that Molitor is using Busenitz in a high leverage spot. Happy, but stunned.
  12. Yes, but no one is suggesting that Santana be extended further than he is already signed. At which point he will be 35, 36 if he vests his option. If Arrietta signs a 5 year deal after this season, he'll be 36 in the last season of it. So, by trading Santana and signing Arrietta you maybe extend the window for this core of offensive players by a year or two. And that's if Arrietta is as good as Ervin, which is by no means certain. He certainly won't be as cheap.
  13. Where's Doc Brown...
  14. Needless to say, 6 BB in 7 IP isn't something he can continue to do to get a shot at the MLB level.
  15. Just to be clear, Santana is not a free agent after 2018. He has an option that vests if he reaches 400 IP in 2017 and 2018 combined, provided he gets to 200 IP in 2018. He also has to pass a physical. Follow that? There will be a quiz later.
  16. Given that Arrietta is already showing signs of decline, the price better be pretty good.
  17. I would be curious to know if some of the same people saying Santana is too old to be relied on are saying go after Arrietta. Arrietta is only 3 years younger, meaning if he signs a 5 year deal he would be older at the end of it than Santana will be after next season.
  18. I find it somewhat hypocritical that all those calling to play Escobar more because he has a " hot bat" aren't calling for the Twins to call up Granite and perhaps give Buxton some pine time.
  19. Not sure I agree with the assessment of Castro's blocking abilities. I've looked at the numbers, he has considerably more wild pitches and passed balls on his watch than Suzuki did. Suzuki was very good at blocking. You also may recall Castro's two run passed ball earlier this year.
  20. Sano isn't going anywhere before 2020.
  21. Interesting development. Garver is in LF tonight. It is his second start in LF this year, as well as in his pro career.
  22. The flaw in that theory is that this year the Twins defense ranks among the best in the league yet most of the pitchers are still terrible. The conclusion I draw is that better defense doesn't make BAD pitchers better.
