  1. I read the snipet, but I guess I don’t know enough about the background of the story. The article said Heimlich was a “teenager”. While molesting a 6 year old is certainly never okay, I think it makes a difference if he was 13 or 18 at the time. One you lock up. One you keep an eye on and are more inclined to give a second chance to.
  2. Serious question: How does someone who pays closer attention to stats explain Kepler’s ridiculously low .268 career babip? Over 1200 PA, no one is that unlucky.
  3. Moya is doing well in AAA. Not sure he fits the mold as a traditional lefty reliever though. His best pitch is a changeup which typically is more effective vs RHB for LHP. He has not pitched well in SSS at the MLB level.
  4. 2. I’m kinda surprised a move wasn’t made today with Duffey going back down for Curtiss perhaps. Duffey, Reed and Rogers all have to be considered unavailable IMO.
  5. I’m not sure Gordon’s bat will play at third. Defensively he should be fine. Most shortstops handle third quite well (Ripken, A-Rod, Leius, et al). I’m not really sure who would be the better defender at SS between Gordon and Polanco. My gut says it’s probably a push.
  6. I could be wrong, but I believe the low water mark last year was 4 games under .500. The Twins currently are 8 in the hole. They would have to get VERY hot while the entire Cleveland roster all of a sudden forgot how to play. Yes, the Indian bullpen is vulnerable, especially with Miller out. But, he’ll be back and I think they will shore it up very soon.
  7. Where did you see that? Odorizzi didn’t even complete 4.
  8. The Twins are in the same division as the Indians. The Twins are not in the same league as the Indians. yarnivek, out. btw, I mentioned about a month ago that my wife and I were working toward adopting a teenaged girl. On Saturday we will officially take over her foster care and start down the path to adoption.
  9. I guess we’re going to find out how long Rogers can go. 1 1/3 max is my guess. 2 from Duffey hopefully. 2 from Magill. Give Rodney an inning.
  10. Exodus. As that is what is likely happening at the ballpark.
  11. For one brief moment, victory was within our grasp. And then the game started.
  12. And he continues to pitch well against AAA lineups.
  13. I can’t believe we’ve gone this far into the GDT without a Justin Beiber reference. Or, did I miss it?
  14. 23 pitches. 1 out. Who gets called up tomorrow?
  15. Hanley Ramirez has 17 HR for the Indians. Eddie Rosario and Brian Dozier have 17 combined.
  16. Probably not a coincidence that there is a different pitching coach in place - Gibson’s third at the MLB level.
  17. I don’t believe you are interpreting the rule correctly. I think it means they can’t stay on a rehab assignment forever. “Recalled from rehab” isn’t the same as activated from the DL. Common sense says that activating injured players would be ridiculous. Setbacks during rehab happen all the time. Those players aren’t activated. They are shut completely down for a minimum of 5 (7 for pitchers) days.
  18. The way I am reading that it says recalled from his rehab assignment. That is not the same as being activated from the DL. It has to be pretty common for a guy to have a setback on a rehab assignment. Activating injured players would be a ridiculous policy. So, I’ m pretty sure that is not what the policy is. I think it means exactly what it says. After one rehab assignment is shut down, the player can’t start a new one for 5 or 7 days. I suppose the point is to discourage an infinite “rehab” assignment of a player that maybe really isn’t hurt.
  19. The subject line lists today’s date as 4/31. Actually, today is 4/61.
  20. Meh. He’ll be back for the double header and likely will only throw bullpen sessions in between. In fact, I doubt the Twins even actually have him report to Rochester.
  21. Why use it if a DL trip accomplishes the same goal? The way Buxton is (not) developing, having an option in one’s back pocket seems like a prudent idea.
