Twins 2018 Short Season Hitter Of The Year
MN_ExPat replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Question about Keirsey Seth. Noticed throughout the short season that he would go 4, 5 days, even a week at a time without accumulating any stats. I remember reading when he was signed that he had fought the injury bug some at Utah while he was there. Did you hear anything about him being banged up some (I never saw any injury reports during the season) or was the development team trying to ease him into pro-ball perhaps due to his missing time in college?- 10 replies

Article: NYY 7, MIN 2: It Was Close, Until It Wasn’t

That seems to be the millions dollar question at times . Although, with the season essentially done for a while now, why not leave him in that situation for a bit and let him figure it out. I know that is not always a popular decision, and as fans we usually don't want to see that, but the team can take that data and what they see with their own eyeballs and make a better informed decision in the offseason (hopefully ). -

Kudos to Gibson. Even though he labored at tad bit (4 walks), he still turned in a solid start against a very potent lineup. Felt bad for Busenitz (don't judge, I will always stand up for pitchers). He just couldn't locate his offspeed stuff last night, and when that happens hitters are just going to sit on the FB. Makes for a rough outing and night. -

Well said. Having seen Rooker play in person, I'd fully agree with that assessment. He really is a very good athlete and could very easily man a corner spot in the outfield, although I personally feel that he could be a very good fit at 1B. -
Speaking of MoY... Here's my pipe dream going forward... See if ol' Jake Mauer would be willing to take the helm. He showed good chemistry with his players, a good knowledge of the game, and his teams were always competitive. The Chattanooga games that I watched while he was there were great. Yes I know that isn't likely to happen, but one can hope .

71 extra base hits, that's just impressive no matter how you look at it. I really hope he gets a ST invite and I really look forward to seeing him and Lewis in Chattanooga next year. Should be some awesome baseball.

Very good points overall, but even his own family is worried about his all out play style and seeming propensity for getting hurt. They don't want to see him not play his fullest, but at the same time they are worried about Byron the man and his long term health (just for reference I know his wife's grandmother and she has stated that both her and Byron's wife are always worried about him and his play style).

H2O... I believe you may have missed my point (and yes, I am a vet with multiple tours and deployments). If my post bothered or offended you and you would wish to, I am more than happy to discuss further in private, but I will not do so here.

Article: Matt Magill Making His Improbable Case
MN_ExPat replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
No one is profoundly disagreeing with you SF. Your initial post just came across a wee bit harsh(?), that's all. My thought , and I believe the basic point of Seth's story, is it's ok to root for the guy. Magill does have good stuff, good velo, etc. Yes, the results haven't really shown that, and of course he may never fully "figure it out" and become a staple or even stick. But at the end of the day, our wishes and desires will have little effect on what the team does. Would Magill be my choice to be on the team in the future? Probably not, but that doesn't mean I personally won't pull for him to "figure it out". -

That's a wee bit of the Primacy Effect there... Magill could be useful and possibly a valuable piece moving forward (note: I said could be). He's got good 'stuff' and stranger things have happened. -

MN_ExPat replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
That's... well, I got nothing. It's also not really all that fair to the player and especially the person to speak thusly. I sense frustration and/or perhaps exasperation with other fans bromance with Joe. I get it, no one says you have to feel that way, but perhaps you may want to consider that baseball is a game designed around failure and also look at his numbers pre-mounting injuries. They tell a much different story. -
Article: Let's Talk About Logan Forsythe
MN_ExPat replied to Parker Hageman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'd have to agree. I really don't think he would be a bad placeholder for next year if he was willing to sign a one year dear with a possible (team friendly?) option. He seems a lot happier here that he was in LA. Maybe that helps him be a useful part of the 2019 roster. We shall see I guess.- 44 replies

MN_ExPat replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I won't/don't disagree with you on this, but Stewart did have a couple of small jams earlier in the game and made some pretty nice pitches to get out of them. So for me personally, I'd call it a wash. Just happy to see him make some really nice strides and adjustments tonight.- 22 replies

Article: We Are All Witnesses, Right?
MN_ExPat replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Joe embodies the game, the spirit, the joy that is the greatest game on earth. For his entire career with the Twins, he has made every season, every game, every play that he has been a part of worthwhile to watch. He hasn't been the sole reason I love the game, but he is a part of it. I in turn, am passing on that passion for the game to my son (who is turning into a hell of a pitcher btw ). No matter what Joe decides to do this season, come back/retire, it makes no difference to me. I am grateful that I have had the privilege to enjoy his time in the league. If he hangs up his cleats to spend much deserved time with his family, then he has earned all our thanks for an amazing career. If he decides he wants to continue his quest, then I for one will welcome him back with open arms and shout a might 'Huzzah, Huzzah… for Joe has returned!' Joe is... baseball. -
I certainly don't envy this decision. My gut feeling is that he is left off, but that the FO still wants him around to see if he can get fully healthy. Being left off could also mean that another team may also take that chance and try to catch lightning in a bottle (not likely, but it is possible).

Also... Jay has suffered through injuries that most likely have sapped his ability. We shouldn't blame a guy because his body fails him.

Article: Twins Daily Roundtable: Grading Molitor
MN_ExPat replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree on the bullpen use, could be better. As a big fan of small ball, I don't blame Molly for bunting at all.. actually I look more at the players themselves. It's a lost art that falls on the development of players over the last few years that you just haven't seen stressed enough in the junior, High School, and College levels as much as it once was. But, overall, I really find myself being rather 'meh' about Molitor. Loved him as a player, and I personally think he isn't a bad coach... just not a good manager. -

MN_ExPat replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Very well said Seth. I really like the idea (which of course probably means the Twins and the FO wont use it ) and I agree, it could be a really good way to get extra innings and let the next wave of arms get there feet wet without to much pressure.- 38 replies
