  1. Suzuki currently on waivers too... Any way to see who's already been placed on (and passed through) waivers this year?
  2. Excessive? Isn't 100 still usually the norm pitchers get to? Thought it use to be 110. 90-100 is standard. If he's rolling, give him the complete game. Can't baby them in minors and expect them to deliver in big leagues
  3. Fernando Romero and Felix Jorge were both low six figure signings in 2011 as well
  4. I know, I know. We're going to finish with one of the worst records in baseball this year. Why should we be buyers? Well, for one I would argue it's the log jam of prospects on our 40 man roster combined with the youth of the team. We have prospects entering their age 23-26 season that just can't break it. I think we should try to unload those types for a quality starter. In my opinion they are valuable pieces but more quantity than quality. We have a lot of quantity guys but need more quality. Could Gibson, Vargas, Walker, Reed land a top 2 type SP? Thoughts? And of course I am all for selling dozier as well....
  5. Agree. I think the top prospects ratings could be interesting at the end of the year and significantly different than mid season. If berrios and Polanco are off the prospect lists I could see the year end rankings looking something like this: 1. Gonsalves 2. Kirriloff 3. Gordon 4. Jay 5. Stewart 6. Mejia 7. F. Romero 8. Palka 9. Chargois 10. vielma. Once you get past the top 5-6 though I feel like there's a lot of interchangeable people.
  6. Yes
  7. How soon will guys start to hit the waiver wire? I imagine high contract guys will be first, and then slowly the guys that they are wanting to trade? How soon does usually all play out?
  8. If trade Kurt Suzuki to Dodgers for RHP Chase de Jong, RHP Jacob rhame, and C Keibert Ruiz
  9. In my opinion, Dozier and Polanco is exclusive from the Vielma decision. Both are 2B. Polanco could potentially play 3B too but he is a 2B. Vielma is a SS prospect. And I wouldn't pigeonhole him as a defensive player. He can hit. 22 y/o and .280 in AA. Thats plenty. He isn't going to hit for power, thats not the type of guy he is, but there is no doubt in my mind he could hit .240- .250 and play good defense in the majors right now. That has organizational depth value and no doubt he could be stashed on a team for a year. Assuming Gordon progresses as we think he will, I think Vielma will be a necessary depth player and have great trade value when the time comes to package. And I wouldn't to lose Vielma before we see more with Gordon's development.
  10. I'm flabbergasted that people don't have Vielma as a lock. There's no doubt he would stick for a year. His bat is okay... But his glove is MLB ready. He will be in the majors by this time next year if not earlier
  11. Is McGuff going above GCL? He's 22 and putting up stupid numbers there. Should've been at elizabethtown
  12. Can't edit my post but I'd leave off Harrison of my tough choice. I wouldn't add him to tough choice unless he has a hell of a 2nd half
  13. I could see 8 maybe 9 spots opening up. Locks are Jorge, Palka, Vielma, Romero and Garver. Heavy consideration (most likely adds): Granite, Wheeler and Slegers. Tough choice: Thorpe and Harrison. Here are the people I see coming off the 40 man: 2 of (Vargas, dozier, Escobar, Nunez, Plouffe), Suzuki, 1 of (grossman, Santana or walker), 1 of (Santana or nolasco), 4 other pitchers (abad, booshers, Meyer, melotakis, Milone, Ramirez)
  14. Not to be a smartass but how does the move with Mastro help keep Arcia? (It doesn't)
  15. I think the White Sox liked Nolasco the last time they saw him too, but I doubt they'd trade for him.
  16. He had a tore labrum when he was drafted his senior year and this is his first season back
  17. Couldn't tell you if he was in the book but he was a 24th rounder last year out of Appalachian state and is a 22 year old in rookie ball... It's good that he's hitting well but he's not someone to keep an eye on
  18. Here's my lineup. 2B Jorge Polanco SS Eduardo Nunez 1B Joe Mauer 3B Miguel Sano RF Max Kepler LF Eddie Rosario DH Bo-hung park (Palka could push here) C Juan Centeno CF Byron Buxton So in this situation I got rid of Dozier and Plouffe and kept Nunez. I think this lineup could afford to get rid of Nunez. I think pitching is going to be this teams Achilles heal so I won't even go there. Thoughts?
  19. But then again, when Sano and Rosario were in Beloit, I told my buddy that I thought Rosario was just as valuable of a prospect as Sano as long as he could stick at 2B . Rosario ended up being a much better prospect than he was at that time but obviously that was still wrong.
  20. I have Palka in the 11-15 range. Chargois slightly behind him. Romero is probably in the 11-15 for me as well. Wander around 15 is probably fair. I just rate a 22 y/o in AA that's putting up good numbers and already has a major league glove higher than a 16 year old (albeit w/ good potential) that hasn't played much yet due to injury.
  21. Kenny Vargas executed a pretty swinging bunt today as well
  22. I think Dozier is reestablishing his trade value
  23. That's insane that Palka is that high. I'm surprised vielma hasn't cracked the list yet. He's a much better prospect than chargos. Romero too. I'd have him above wander too just because wander hasn't proven anything yet
  24. It's nice having Dozier but I'm a firm believer that he is a stop-gap type talent. And whoever we put at SS is the same way. We have a lot of nice pieces in the minor leagues in MIF between Gordon, Vielma, Polanco, Arraez and further out Wander Javier. Cant speak for the rest but everything I've seen points in the positive direction for both Gordon and Vielma. Both seem like very humble kids that will put in the work to reach their dream. Polanco seems ready, and honestly would probably be a better fit for the team than Dozier is. I really hope we can unload Dozier at the trade deadline (though I said that last year when he was considered an all-star)
  25. In case you missed it, oswaldo Arcia homered today as well
