I really can't see a deal getting done without him. Dodgers would have to give up too much otherwise. For example if Alvarez wasn't included my minimum package would probably be del Leon, Stewart, lux, Ruiz, and then a guy like Sheffield
Do any of guys think we could get the dodgers to give up kershaw? That would solve our pitching problem and presumably help them with their money situation. Their view of their prospects is that their window is in 3-4 years. Maybe instead of going the dozier route, maybe we take the bring kershaw to dozier route. We have the pieces. I think Tyler Jay, Felix Jorge, Daniel Palka and a guy like JT chargois would be enough
Yeah if we went by dodger fans logic we should trade Tyler jay, gonsalves and Daniel Palka for Clayton kershaw. I mean they love prospects. I would rather do that
I honestly would pass on the dodgers offer. Not worth it for a guy that has a bum shoulder and can't mix up pitches at a major league level. If daves proposed trade is true, I think that's closer to the value he should get but is still a bit short. I'd rather enjoy him being on the team and check again come trade deadline. At that time, i hope the dodgers are looking up at all the other NL teams who improved their teams
Just a blast from the pst and more evidence to not make a trade just to make a trade. Good lord that was bad. Dodgers should overpay just for having ripped us off so bad.
Oh man. I was reading about a dodgers trade we made with them in the past last night. We got absolutely taken to the woodshed. We gave up both Kevin tepani and Mark Guthrie. In return we got headliner Ron Coomer then a bunch of nothing. Chris Latham, Jose parra, and Greg Hansell were also sent to the Twins.
I like this post but you are also missing a key piece of the equation. Increased WAR as you get closer to a World Series has more value. That's to say it is harder to acquire those missing pieces. Surely everyone would value having increased odds of winning a World Series for two years over mediocrity for a few more
I guess I'm not high on either del Leon or Stewart. Besides Dave says it's Alvarez so why all this talk about him being off the table? Seems like only dodger fans would be saying that
A 26 year old prospect isn't going to be untouchable. Giving away dozier for just those two would be as foolish as the blue jays giving us Shannon Stewart straight up for Bobby kielty.
So dozier can lose value but their prospects can't? Lol classic. To make a trade solely to make a trade is foolish. No GM in their right mind would do such a thing. Would I like dozier traded? Sure, but if the value isn't there then it isn't there. I'm perfectly good with going into the season with another star on our team.
De Leon could blow up and regress to his mean too. Maybe then we wouldn't even want him. And the person arguing that dozier doesn't sell tickets or merchandise, just lol. Yes he does. Any player contributes to that
Exactly. Restovich was a top 20 but everyone knew he couldn't hit anything besides a fastball. Hell, Matt Moses was top 70 and I'm not sure he ever did anything in the minors. Prospects bust all the time. You can't just blindly look at a list and be like okay that works. You have to examine the player itself. If you look at Calhoun and think that's a for sure top 70 in minor leagues I would think you have lost your mind.
No. admittably I'm not as high on de Leon as most but even then in that trade he is the only non for sure bust. Calhoun is worthless in any trade offer. We're not going to trade for a 5'8" DH type. Just isn't going to happen. He has no value
Couldn't agree more. Prospects are risky. You could look at the top 20 every year and over half won't make it. Remember when Mike Restovich was a top 20 prospect? Happened even though they knew he couldn't hit anything besides a fastball. Well De Leon isn't even top 20 prospect and has questions about his pitch selection and his shoulder. That doesn't return someone like Dozier by themself. Has to be a nice package. Would be interesting if someone did a statistical break down of top 50 prospects (where De Leon belongs) in the past 10-15 years or so.
I swear twins fans are the biggest woe is me crowd there is sometimes. We have a great player on our hands. Let's not undersell just because we look at the negatives as hard. If you look at it, all players have negatives. De Leon has major question marks as does Alvarez, and other prospects. We have a great major league player who is top 3 at his position. Let's not sell that short just because we have been ripped off in trades in the past
I like the depth the cardinals have better. Alcantara and Perez would be good pieces and there's a number more that would make sense for both teams. I really do like Lux and Ruiz though so if dodgers offered them as the 3rd pieces with de Leon and Alvarez I might just take that. Cardinals have more options to make it work though
Exactly. Not uncommon for top prospects to bust out until proven. To not give them up in a trade for a proven top 3 2B is foolish and Twins would be fools to accept anything less than a few of them to counteract the percentages
