  1. Just curious but what makes you interested in Calhoun? What position would you have him play?
  2. If the dodgers want to get dozier without Alvarez expect many top prospects further away such as Lux, heredita, and to a lesser extent Ruiz in addition to pro ready players
  3. For a team so close it seems like a losing strategy to rely on highly risky prospects and players to improve rather than acquiring a known star. Jmo of course
  4. I honestly think de Jong or Stewart are AAAA types
  5. I'm glad he's a twin too but he has a hump to get over just as all prospects do. Baseball prospects bust at a rate far greater than a sport such as football
  6. Most fans overrate prospects. Berrios is more likely to be a 3 or 4 than a 1. Same with Deleon. Alvarez projection is all over the map. He has just as much chance of being an ace as never making the majors. With his stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in bullpen. Stewart as a 4 or 5. I would say those 3 plus a lottery ticket is worth Dozier
  7. Maybe he makes a debut in 2018 but it'll be as an reliever. That might be where he ends up, elite reliever. Would love to see him end up as a starter but he's a long ways. Potential is there though
  8. You're right dozier isn't worth that. He's worth more. It's funny how much dodger fans overrate their prospects
  9. All the prospect lists. Baseball America. MLB.com. Etc. That's why I always laugh when they say he's "x" on this and this prospect list. They are useless. Calhoun is trash
  10. I think I've been pretty consistent. If it's de Leon, alvarez and Stewart as a third piece I could still see it. I would still like to see a 4th piece like Ruiz included in that, but I could see that package being one where twins might be inclined to take it
  11. A team that wants to win will give a fair package. No need to sell.
  12. Yeah thats probably about the right price for a fair trade on both sides.
  13. You can't just pick and chose years lol. I'm saying the 6 years of Joe Mays in twins uniform. That includes the 1 all star years as well as the bad years. That's the production on average we'd get from Deleon (it's actually slightly less). Of course we also have the risk that he is better and the risk that he busts and is worse. On average though, slightly less than Joe Mays. Seems like we would need a few of those Joe Mays types to be able to accept that risk for a player like dozier
  14. Exactly. The bust risk is so much for prospects that he is on average going to be joe mays. Even the write up says #3 or #4 starter. His most likely scenario is becoming a 4-7 WAR player. People act like we're passing up a 20 WAR player here... that's not the case at all. Does he have a shot to do that? Sure but I also have a shot at the lottery. On average he is less than Joe Mays to the twins. Would you accept Joe Mays for Brian Dozier?
  15. Here is a link http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/top-21-prospects-los-angeles-dodgers/
  16. Everyone in this thread. That's fangraphs projection for his first six seasons
  17. Joe mays was about a 10.6 WAR player in 6 seasons with twins. They're talking about De Leon being possibly a 10.1 WAR in 6 seasons (if he doesn't bust)
  18. He might as well be. I mean we're talking about a pitcher who projects to be Joe Mays if he's lucky and acting like we're getting justin verlander here. It's insanity
  19. Baseball is sometimes hard to visualize worth. Simple question for you; what would be more valuable in a trade, 2 years of Aaron Rodgers going to a playoff contender or 6 years of Paxton lynch going to a bottom dweller?
  20. I think it's sort of funny how much people under value dozier and over value prospects
  21. Too bad the Giants improved as well. If they feel they don't need to increase their odds then so be it.
  22. It's actually quite ridiculous that they aren't being more aggressive for their window. Not sure I would approve as a fan. I would rather increase my odds at a World Series ring than maybe have 1 of 3 prospects turn out to be something one day. When you consider the bust rate of top prospects it's even more absurd
  23. Where are you from (be as specific as you are comfortable): Arizona What is your age (or age range, if you prefer): late 20's How long have you been a Twins fan? Since I can remember. Probably 5 or 6 years old. What have a couple of your best Twins memories been? One was a game I went to. It was when the twins weren't that good. I think we were playing the Red Sox and pat meares hit a walk off hit over the short stop to win the game. Another instance came in what had to be Hawkins rookie year. He was getting roughed up and this old guy in my section yelled out "Simmer down now". Maybe it was the presentation of it but I always got a kick out of it. Playoffs were special but we lost too much that I blocked a lot of those games out. Who have some of your favorite players been? Pat Meares (reason above), johan Santana, justin morneau, Corey Koskie, Guzman. Edit to add rick Aguilara, terry steinbach, and David ortiz How long have you been reading Twins Daily (or were you following some writers before Twins Daily)? Started on ESPN boards and went to BYtO. Wish the Henry Blanco poster still posted here... What brings you back to Twins Daily? How often do you stop by the site? Love reading about the twins. I'm probably around daily to weekly. Check box scores of all major and minor league teams at least daily
  24. De Leon is only top pitching prospect. Stewart is rated 14 in their system and is a 4 or 5 starter. Basically a guy to log innings. Sheffield is rated 8 in their system but projected to be a reliever and medical issues. Lux is good but over 60% shot he never sees the big leagues. Ruiz is a lottery ticket who isn't really touted and hasn't really proved anything but
