  1. No, reports now are that Kraft picked Mayo to be the successor several years ago, Belichick didn't like that there was a succession plan and Belichick barely even talked to Mayo that final year they coached together.
  2. With the reported dissention between Kraft and Belichick, I don't know why they didn't want to clean house and start from scratch. Anyone tied to Belichick is going to constantly be compared to Belichick. Should have found a completely different group of leaders and a completely different style of football.
  3. True, but the teams that end up snagging the winning lotto tickets that debut at 18 or 19 years old and become super stars, often do it with these international guys. Beltre and De Los Santos from last year are fairly encouraging.
  4. Yeah, if the Twins were to trade for Correa, I think they'd have to give up more than Matthews. They wouldn't get Correa+ for Matthews. I guess the one argument to be made is that Correa's hypothetical landing spots are so much smaller as only about ten teams can afford him in today's game.
  5. I'm not going to go too far to defend billionaires, but I think the Wilfs did OK with that situation. Frazier did get three years and two of them were the two worst years for the Vikings in the 21st Century. Awful QBs for sure, but he was a defensive coach and they had the 32nd ranked defense in the league in his last year. I think a lot of clubs would have fired Frazier after his first season when they went 3-13, but he got two more years. Zimmer, yeah that went on too long, but he never won fewer than 7 games. It was a whole lot of average, but it was never terrible.
  6. I didn't read the article, but there was a long stretch there where they were just cannon fodder. The owners knew the team needed a rebuild so they hired a black coach, probably for the PR of it all, but knowing it was a one year gig until the team was back on it's feet and aimed for a bigger name.
  7. No idea if it will turn out to be the right move, but I respect John Mara a bit more for this. I LOVE that he didn't knee-jerk react to a bunch of armchair fans. Not saying the fans were wrong, but NY fans are insufferable and need to be told they don't run the world once in awhile. I might have split the difference though, keeping the HC and firing the GM.
  8. Kwesi might hit on two of those!
  9. Did he apply online? What I'm asking is, was he E-hired?
  10. I've been a skeptic all year. We as Vikings fans are very familiar with the short-term renaissance QB phenomena. Still, while I absolutely tag him, I'm still TBD about trading him. At least right away.
  11. Man the Jets have interviewed a bunch of coaches already. Can you imagine a grown man with NFL experience going in to work and having to report to a couple of teenagers who will judge you based on how your players avatars play in their video games?
  12. Julien's potential and his spot on the roster (or lack of spot) is going to be the easiest call to make. His issues stem from not swinging the bat. All they have to do is see if he's swinging or if he's watching, and we will know before the season starts if there is hope for him, or if he's a lost cause. His unique malady will make this really easy.
  13. Looking at his numbers, I can't imagine any other reason he would have been promoted to AAA other than he was decent defensively.
  14. Yeah, fans everywhere would call us crazy for having this one game be a factor in the decision, but they don't understand Minnesota sports. Every sport, every league and every big game, choking is what our players do. Darnold could throw for 5000 yards and 50 TDs, but if he is going to freeze when it matters most, that's a deal breaker.
  15. Not sure how he’ll perform, but I’m encouraged about the possible poise as he did win a championship in a prime time game with just as big of an audience watching. Choking is a Minnesota specialty, but he passed the test once.
  16. Even less reason for Goff to be in…,
  17. Is this even football anymore?
  18. Also, Jefferson has also been terrible tonight.
  19. Incorrect. For the best. I’ve personally witnessed Daniel Jones win a playoff game…… 200% sarcasm.
  20. A montage of him missing Jefferson repeatedly in the end zone would be enough to show he had a terrible game.
  21. Yeah, they can run on long yardage downs and when they are outside the 20’s. But on expected run downs; typically short yardage, they haven’t been able to all year.
  22. The defenders didn’t see the hard count coming?
  23. So run the ball when the OL didn’t show up? They can’t run in short yardage situations because they have a bad center and guards.
  24. I would like Gibbs to be my RB.
  25. He is so late with these throws!
