  1. Right, I'm not saying that's what happened in this case, but this team shouldn't be sacrificing outs for capable speedsters who should be able to advance all on their own. If Buxton, Santana or Dozier aren't able to steal a base with a good chance of success, that absolutely needs to be one of the first things this team has to fix, and really, it should have been fixed this spring.
  2. *** I know this will not be popular*** But if the lineup is right handed heavy and the bench is lacking a RH bat, it might be a good idea to move one of your starters to the bench more often, even if he's an above average hitter. Trevor Plouffe would probably be a pretty solid Four-corners bench guy. Sano to 3B or if there are still defensive concerns bring up Polanco. I think it should be considered if this team keeps finding itself in need of a right handed bench bat.
  3. I didn't get to see the play, but if the infielders were positioned where a bunt hit was a reasonable expectation, I'm not entirely bothered. Pinch running for Dozier is a bigger issue for me. The ultimate outcome for Dozier and Santana on 1st is probably the same 95% of the time, probably even higher. Meanwhile, if they do happen to score the game is merely tied, meaning a high likelihood of extra innings, in which case, obviously you'd rather have Dozier's bat than Santana's. They have to stop this pinch running for a guy on 1st nonsense if the guy getting removed is a vastly superior hitter. Also, whoever was on first should have stolen 2B. With a guy on 3B there's a good chance there would have been no throw, and then you can at least let them contemplate the idea of not giving Joe Mauer anything to hit and getting Sano to the plate. Though honestly, if we allow the players any early-season slack for being rusty, and I do, we should probably do the same for the manager.
  4. I was kidding, mostly. Just voicing my appreciation for Sherlock. Some plots can be a bit theatrical, but so is the production value, in a good way.
  5. There is some potential with the rotation, but the big club really, really needs one of Gonsalves, Jay or Stewart to figure it out and become a top of the rotation guy. I'd think currently all of them are looked at as having ceilings of a mid-rotation guy; someone has to over-achieve, the MLB rotation just cannot continue to operate with number 4-5 guys, maybe a 3, throughout.
  6. For which one? I might actually be looking forward to Sherlock more.
  7. Well half the people down there want it to be the Texas National flag. Also half the people everywhere else.
  8. Quick learner. You'll have the ladies flicking to you in no time.
  9. Well can we confirm if it was manager induced or simply a rogue notion by Dozier?
  10. I'm only following on game cast, was that really a bunt from Dozier with no out?
  11. Yeah, if there ever was a deletable post, this may be it.
  12. Should it matter if it affected the throw if the intent was clearly to affect the throw? Personally, breaking up a double play is really, really low on my list of things that I would miss about baseball if it disappeared.
  13. I forget, are those two different people?
  14. I agree, the only reason we are talking about this is because Bautista likely changed his slide to conform to the new rule, last year he would have tried to kick the 2B, now because it is implicitly not allowed, he likely thought, what the hell, I'll give this way a try. Obviously grabbing the defender is interference, and it's almost certainly why guys have (had) historically tried to break up slides with their feet, using your hands to tackle the defender was clearly a no-no. If it wasn't people would have been breaking up DPs with their arms, not their legs all along.
  15. Hispanic voters and the state is no longer able to pretend that Austin doesn't exist. Still, they might again vote on succession (and build a wall around their entire border, and kick out all the Hispanics) if they look like they might go blue. If the ballot is mano e mano Clinton still wouldn't win if she chose Julian Castro as a running mate, but she might do better than Obama's 41%.
  16. Never heard of it. I'd ask you for more details, but I won't waste either of our time as I can't imagine I'd watch it anyway.
  17. Agreed it wouldn't go Blue exactly, though I think if the ballot has Clinton, Trump AND Cruz/Kasich/The Corpse of Reagan, all bets are off on who actually takes the state. Obama got 41% of Texas votes in 2012, if there are three people on the ballot and Democrat voters turn out in the same numbers, 41% is probably going to win Clinton every single state.
  18. I think it's toxic because of the good that's mixed in. You're right, a lot of the fights look bad today simply because enough people didn't take the time to defend the neglected aspects of society the previous couple decades. I wasn't around in the 1960's, but history tells us there was a much larger awareness of social injustice, and history also tells us there was a much larger push back and violence. I wouldn't dare compare current people to the brave folks that marched on Selma, but today's climate doesn't seem new. I mean Don't Ask Don't Tell was a fairly liberal idea just 20 years ago; it seems Draconian now. Social issues aren't advancing at the same rapid pace as our technology, but they are advancing pretty quickly compared to past drawn out issues. It's no wonder that those that don't feel comfortable with change are putting up a fight.
  19. The present always seems worse than the past, but then in retrospect it usually isn't. Tough times, for sure, but it's always the malcontents and those that fear change that scream the loudest. They'll quiet down when they realize once again they aren't going to win and history is going to make them the villains. In the grand scheme of things, evolution still has an undefeated record against conservatism.
  20. DD season 2 was good, but it was about three episodes too long and they certainly don't employ writers that can create any kind of decent legal storyline, which is kind of an issue considering DD's background. I think Netflix also needs push for quality over quantity before the novelty of these shows wears off.
  21. Knowing Hollywood, won't Gal Gadot be too old by then?
  22. I park at the library for $5. Not sure about the $15.50 average ticket though. This is the verbiage they use: "$15.20 a game on average for cheaper season tickets." They use similar verbiage for all the stadiums, so it's not the average cost of going to a game, it's more like the average cost of getting a cheap ticket from a season ticket holder. I'm not sure those tickets are always available. They probably should have figured out a median ticket price or maybe just used the pricing from a specific vantage point. It's also no wonder that the LA teams have the cheapest season ticket prices as it's hard to get people in California to commit their beautiful summers to going to the stadium.
  23. I don't know, our wars are pretty darn effective, seems like money well spent seeing as they've now bought a new level of world peace and cooperation.
  24. I've seen their bullpen, they should probably lower their threshold from "excited" to "Please God, anyone"
